Clicking on the keyboard image will activate the onscreen virtual keyboard.
The virtual keyboard uses a US keyboard layout (with the addition of the key between left shift and z).
It may differ from the labels printed/engraved on your keyboard. Remapped keyboards or other languages are not supported in this version.
This may (or may not) change someday.
Activating the checkbox for Assigned keys will show the current key-mapping. In this mode the keyboard does not override already used keys and keys which are hardcoded in Oolite (e.g. the View F1).
Additional possibilitites to configure this tool are available by activating the Legend/Options.
Special keys like Escape or Cursor keys (e.g. CR^ ) are only available through the virtual keyboard by selecting Extras (Extras + Shift is reserved for future enhancements). For Mac-user some special keys are defined as symbols. The left mouse button (MB LeftClick and MB DoubleClick) can be mapped as well.
Please note, the F-Keys F1-F8 and Number-Keys 1-8 are used to show specific GUIs/Views and are hardcoded.
Mapping other features to these keys will add the new feature on top.
When done click the 'Create output' button and copy the content into your keyconfig.plist.
Note: Do not use Notepad when working on Windows - it will corrupt your file.
The easiest way is probably to create a folder named User.oxp in your AddOns directory, containing one folder named Config. Create a file named keyconfig.plist there.
Copy the following into your keyconfig.plist.
Or paste the content of a keyconfig.plist in the text area to continue working.
