PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

I registered for access to thier vault when they announced it. I got the password after emailing them, but, you can get it by hitting a get password button on their site somewhere. Forgot where now.

It doesnn't say much, the only thing that stuck out was what MJPIA posted, ie their search for a second manufacturer

There is images and videos there also. Strangely, three of the videos are of someone videoing the house in the snow from outside. Allmost stalker-ish. You can see someone sitting inside the house, and the person is videoing from trees near the house. There is nothing but subtle background noise and the videos last 10-16 seconds. Kind of like the opening scene to a horror movie. Very Strange. Especially considering these are videos that supposedly are there for people to share. If you have access to the vault, you can see them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3Q5tN2-_zBJMDVBd2NzR0F4cFU

Not only are they aiming to be at E3, but the plan on launching the PGS by the end of June. That's their current plan anyway

Did they actually say the vault will be private? I see they say they will post exclusive information there, but they also encourage their fans to post the information from there elsewhere. To force them not to be able to link to images and so on in the vault would seem to me to be counterproductive.

I have been on their mailing list from the beginning and found the email about it with the password to the forum in my spam folder (appropriate). But as vcoleiro1 pointed out, it doesn't seem like it is that hidden. It seems that they want to try and control this information to an extent. Not sure why or how effective that will be.

EDIT:
This was the part that stood out to me as the most curious from the announcement:
Our portal, the PGS Vault, will be available to active users and everyone interested, but you should get a special password to get access. All active user actions related to the information spreading will be monitored and recorded. All our community, all portable gaming fans, high-tech gadgets fans, Youtube bloggers and reviewers are free to join.

The video footage of the house is creepy, it feels like it is a viral ad or something, like the people involved in this are just making a movie and this was all part of their advertising. That thing will never come out, it is obviously not real.

Hm, maybe I should make outside videos of my house as well? Without snow though.
get someone else to video though, and have you working on the pyra inside... and heavy breathing with the camera-person...

then EvilDragon turns around, to look out the window, but the camera-person has hid behind a tree...

then the title appears:

TWO
MORE
MONTHS!!!

Skip the house. Not enough going on.

Set up a Pyra prototype on top of a tall end table on a sidewalk with something moving (train, highway, other) in the background.
Set up a WiFi camera pointed at the Pyra from about 3' away so that the motion is visible around it.
View the WiFi camera's signal from the Pyra while recording on the Pyra.

The resulting hall of mirrors effect on a Pyra screen inside of a Pyra screen is intentional.

Convert the whole thing to grey scale. Add some smooth jazz. Post it. We all go nuts analyzing every unintended detail.

Is it just me who finds that video reminds me of one of Craigx's videos - possible the 'falling off the roof' one?

Now you can't get much more freaky a reference for Pandora users.

FWIW, I don't have a vault account or even a google account that I'm actually logged into (or have logging in cookies for google) and was still able to view that video.

So maybe a burning car with all their PGSs will fall off the roof.

That is kinda fucked to say they want an independent team in Japan in addition to the Chinese team. What is the point of that other than advertising and a pathetic attempt to win more Japanese customers?

Have they shown a semifunctional prototype yet, or is it still too early for that? Maybe they will announce that it was all a big joke during E3, and they did some amazing investing with the funds and they will give backers triple the money they originally gave.

I would love to see ED make a series of advertising videos when/if he has free time. I already mentioned a retro video in another thread, and an Evil Dead (original, not remake) settle one would also be awesome. Maybe he knows someone with a cabin in the woods. This should have its own thread, or be appended to the other silly one we had going for a while that had movie posters.

Regardless of who is better at what, it kinda tells the original team that they aren't good enough in some way. I don't think I would want to be a part of either of those teams.
[doublepost=1493279915,1493279864][/doublepost]Oh, but I was thinking that they could have contacted Nintendo, but it is probably too late for that now.

Sounds more like they don't have any team at all anymore, hence the need to look for a new team. Of course, that's just pure speculation. :)

I think there quest for a Japanese developer might have something to do with getting Japanese certification which is needed to seel the PGSin Japan. GPD teamed up with a Japanese company to do the Japanese crowdfunding , certification and sell GPD WINs in Japan
