I'd make a joke about paying for free software, but I don't wanna summon a gratis versus libre lecture.

That may well be the case, I guess. I've never dealt with that given all of my projects have been put under an open source license, so I don't have a need for private repos (and I have to mind my language at least in all of my commit messages).

Presumably that means for a lot of people it ends up on your credit card, which I guess for most people that's not a problem. Personally I only use my credit card for online purchases, and I've not made one of those for at least two months at present, but provided my code didn't become suddenly very popular, that still wouldn't be a problem for me.

This looks like a Patreon. It doesn't look like a 1 time donation, but more a recuring fee.

To me, it also looks like the entanglement of two services that don't really need to be closely linked.

I'd much rather that one provider handle micropatronage payments, and another prove a fancy web interface for revision control / project management.

What good is a basket made to carry all your eggs at once?
