So, what's the current status of everything?

Have you tried plugging the keyboard in via a USB hub? You used to have to do that on the Pandora

That's not necessary on the Pyra.

Also a Prototyp is Double expensive than a normal MP Unit,
If he crackd the LCD, how easy would it be to ship a new one in the USA and change it??
So it’s better to be careful..

Not too hard, actually. Three screws and the lid is completely open :)

@Grench his review was amazing. Glad everything is working out for him. By the looks of ED's post, that 5-6 weeks is here. He most likely has the cases and things are being put together as we speak! very optimistic. I have been waiting for this completion for a very long time.

I also been here watching silently for over a decade, a lot of interesting activity on the forums now that the pyra is right around the corner (heh)

I continue to struggle to connect a bluetooth or usb keyboard. I just put the output of dmesg at http://sprunge.us/UBb22t and would appreciate any help. I installed blueman and bluez-tools. Blueman is not too informative but the bluetoothctl command in bluez-tools at least gave me a message that "no default controller available" which I googled and found to be associated with hci0 not being assigned. In the dmesg output I found hci0: failed to get CTS but googling that has been unavailing.

In other news, I have decided to upload at least one more video today due to the favorable response to the last one. I will show Youtube, local music and video, and installing some packages. I will demonstrate gameplay if I can figure out how to download any of the games. My 11-yro son is an avid player of retro gaming so if there is something he likes there we will try that. We actually have a "Museum of Play" in our city and he has gone there and played in their 1980s themed arcade, so he knows many old games.

We haven't worked on the bluetooth setup yet, but dmesg would be more helpful if you boot the unit, plugin the keyboard and THEN run a dmesg, as the USB infos should popup right at the end,

Also, lsusb (which lists USB devices) might help us here.

Hm, there's absolutely nothing about USB there. Could be the port is broken... but both?
Does lsusb list anything at all?

Hm. So it doesn't even react... on both USB ports?
That would be weird... but not impossible, as I didn't test any of the ports.

I take it there's no difference when connecting a USB Stick?

The only USB keyboard I have is not recognized in either USB-A port. It is recognized by another computer I have. In Synaptic package manager I see many packages for Bluetooth devices but I'm not sure which ones are relevant.

Maybe like the Pandora the usb ports need to be enabled?

I may have found a clue about the bluetooth issue. The latest dmesg output included this:

[ 8.754154] hci-ti serial0-0: Direct firmware load for ti-connectivity/TIInit_11.8.32.bts failed with error -2

I googled TIinit_11.8.32.bts and found several copies of it online. I'm not sure what to do with it or where to put it, though.

By the way, I did try usb with a hub and a usb drive, both without any response. The right sd card slot works, though.

So, checking my preorder from 2016 yikes long time ago, I paid 400.00. What is the remainder to be paid? 300.00? Can I pay the difference or just buy voucher thingies on dragonbox?

The path should be:
/lib/firmware/ti-connectivity/TIInit_11.8.32.bts

In debian, the package firmware-ti-connectivity ("apt-get install firmware-ti-connectivity") puts some firmware files there: that path should work. Strangely, the specific firmware you need is not included in that debian package; you will have put the firmware you downloaded there manually.

Thanks @imposserous for the video to let us see how some things work. Hoping to see more videos from other prototype owners doing what they got the Pyra for. They're nice to get a feel for the Pyra.

I saw that Firefox took 10+ seconds to load. How fast are the SD card slots and eMMC capable of?

Thank you.

Thanks for the tip Antartica! The bluetooth keyboard is working now thanks to that!

I posted another video:

awesome, thanks! enjoyed it a lot. <3

edit:
you can also use the nubs as a mouse replacement. left nub moves pointer, right nub to left does lmb button 'click'. for example.

maybe you want to scale up the whole screen a bit too?
it should work with
  1. Right-click on the desktop and choose Change Desktop Background OR: choose System -> Preferences -> Appearance.
  2. Choose the Fonts tab.
  3. Click the Details button.
  4. On the top of the dialog there is a Resolution entry field where you can enter or increase the DPI setting.

maybe it's different on pyra's desktop, but it could make the small fonts/icons etc. a lot more readable, especially when using in a desktop situation and not holding in the hands.
