Should davesha skip the queue so he can work directly on the Pyra?

I know I said it already, but
„Everything tastes better from the Pyra Mug „ ^^

The only thing my parents don’t like on this Mug is it’s size : it’s a bit too small for a big coffee + milk,
But as I trink only a half coffee whit the other half milk, it’s perfect for my needs ^^

Whit best regards, Matthias

I agree. My Pyra coffee mug is a bit on the small size. Beverages do taste good from it, but it is barely large enough for a good cup of hot tea.

Hey ED, some day when you have about sold out of the existing stock of Pyra mugs, make the next order of them at least 16oz or even 500ml please?
(This was not important enough to put @_Evildragon in as a call on the boards, so I didn't.)

So - many of us might remember when Eyjafjallajökull caused the Pandora to be delayed due to disruptions in air travel and transport? Now we have COVID-19 as the Pyra is getting launched. Coincidence? Surely someone can find a conspiracy theory to fit. For that we'll need some form of mystical historical context around the devices. We will need to make it a positive story thought. It should be that the events were caused by forces trying to prevent the release of the devices, but that the devices eventually conquered the respective evils in righteous triumph for the good of all humanity.

I found this modestly interesting:
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/πυρά
Maybe we should start spelling Pyra in the Ancient Greek fashion "πυρά" and truly start confusing people? It would add a bit of mysticism and a cult-like flair.

Where the name of the Pyra device originates as the daughter Pyrrha of Epimetheus and Pandora:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrha_of_Thessaly

If there will ever be a docking station/port/bar for the Pyra, maybe it should be called, "Deucalion", in honor of Pyrrha's mate? Apparently they were a precursor to the story of Adam and Eve with a bit of Noah's Ark mixed in, and were able to reproduce by chucking rocks backwards.

"The story of Deucalion and Pyrrha is also retold in the Roman poet Ovid’s famous collection Metamorphoses. In this retelling, Jove (the Roman equivalent of Zeus) takes pity on the couple, recognizing them to be devout worshipers. He parts the clouds and ends the deluge specifically to save Deucalion and Pyrrha, who are floating aimlessly on a raft. When the storm has cleared and the waters have subsided, Deucalion and Pyrrha are taken aback by the desolate wreckage of the land, and understand that they are now responsible for repopulating the earth. Confused on how to carry out their destiny, they go to see the goddess Themis. Themis tells Pyrrha that she must cast the bones of her mother to successfully reproduce. Pyrrha is distraught at the idea of desecrating her mother’s honor by digging up her bones, but Deucalion correctly reasons that Themis is referring to great mother earth, as Themis would never advise someone to commit a crime. Both Pyrrha and Deucalion throw a stone over their shoulder – Pyrrha’s turning into a woman, Deucalion’s turning into a man."

Deucalion is also the name of Frankenstein's monster in the Dean Koontz Frankenstein series, which is an excellent read. Coincidence?

Congratulations to @EvilDragon, and @daveshah. Is this the first assembled production level Pyra? I honestly had some doubts I'd ever see the day. I hope you take some time to savour the moment.

Look forward to seeing what Daveshah does with it, and of course to receive my own. As always we will all appreciateany updates, photos and war stories as you go.

ONWARD!

Regarding reviewers to send a production model to:
I've watched a video from Brian Lynduke, a long time Linux (mostly Debian) user and renowned speaker on Linux conventions.
He just posted this video:
And I thought:
this is exactly the guy we (or at least I) would want to review the Pyra.
He has knowledge of Linux, little projects, he knows the Linux community and he loves OLDSCOOL handhelds!
Just have a watch and see for yourselves.
The ideal pocket computer is one that first in one’s POCKET comfortably

Well by that metric my Cosmo Communicator is the best bet.

It works but I'm a bit disenfranchised with the front screen integration.

It would be fantastic if Linux were better implemented as well.

I love the design and layout of the Communicator, but have really been turned off Android lately - you have to either give far too much control to Google, or venture into buggy unsupported root hacks, in order to use the expensive computer the way you want to.

This is why the Pyra excites me - real Linux on a device with native 4G!

Well, that and the great keyboard, abundance of ports, big battery...
