    HORIZON ZERO DAWN - PC

It's an incredible game, so much so that I'm considering buying it again to play at 60fps. The price helps, I'm glad they aren't doing it full price. It doesn't do anything different structurally. It is pretty much a standard open-world game in the Ubisoft mold, towers reveal the area, with a...

    Port Requests

All of these :D Source : A cursory glance at the list reveals a few gems I wasn't aware of. I'm definitely going to grab the Settlers 2 remake next weekend when I've got a bit of time, I had just been playing it a bit on GOG/Dosbox recently, but I'm sure it will be better native with a few...

    Future of the CPU board?

I'm not particularly knowledgeable on such things but I think the panfrost driver might be relevant, it's an open source driver for mali GPUs being developed by Collabora

Jai - A Programming Language for Games

Just in case it's passed anyone by (it did me until recently), Jonathon Blow of Braid and The Witness fame is making a new programming language for games called Jai. It seems like he's been working on it for about five years, and it's a compiled language aimed at being better than C++ for...

    RAM and power consumption?

You're worried about the power consumption of RAM on a device that has maybe 10+ battery life?

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

Hmm, I'll take a look, but it looks almost certainly like a problem with the shader. At a guess, I'd say the file is missing. There should be a bunch of shader*.glsl files in the assets directory, three or four of them I think. Looking at it, I'd say you were missing shaderBasic.glsl. Try...

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

I've added a new post with better collision detection and building/debugging using VSCode : https://kaprikawn.wordpress.com/2020/04/13/learning-to-learn-opengl-es-2-0-part-30-improved-collision-debugging-vscode/

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

I've added a rudimentary HUD element to my game now : https://kaprikawn.wordpress.com/2020/03/22/learning-to-learn-opengl-es-2-0-part-29-hud/ It shows a bomb counter in the bottom left, and pressing F on the keyboard decrements it. I've also added a health bar.

Godot game engine goes Open Source

No, not the Vulkan renderer. But 4.0 will still support ES2. And my understanding is that there will be general improvements to the 3D that will benefit ES2 as well as Vulkan because reduz is refactoring the renderer extensively.

You didn't expect this, I guess.

Black is the absence of colour I think. But seriously, I don't think ED is going to make any decision based on random posts spread across what will inevitably become a 20+ page news post. I'm sure he'll do a poll (yay!) when the time comes to decide. I don't think anything is to be gained by...

In the assets directory, can you try : git lfs install rm ship.glb git checkout . EDIT: I've just tried this on a Mint VM instance I've got, and it worked there.

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

Hmm, yeah, that's just the pointer to the file, it isn't the actual file. It's because it's been uploaded as via LFS I think. I'll have to do a little reading on how that works, I obviously haven't done it correctly. In the meantime, you could go to...

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

I've seen segfaults like this I think, I don't think it's on the string definition. Usually it's a problem with it trying to read some JSON that doesn't exist. The JSON is embedded in the .glb file (which is a GLTF2 binary). I downloaded the repo into a fresh directory and compiled it to make...

Pyra Learning OpenGL ES 2.0 for Pyra

It only took me five months to write some code this time : https://kaprikawn.wordpress.com/2020/01/19/learning-to-learn-opengl-es-2-0-part-26-texture-mapping/ I can now import a textured GLTF2 file from Blender. Thanks for the pointers on the sidebar, I've added a link to the github, I'll...

New blog post done [after seven months] : https://kaprikawn.wordpress.com/2019/09/30/learning-to-learn-opengl-es-2-0-part-25-loading-gltf2-files/ No changes to the functionality, but I can now read GLTF2 files so that my workflow is much more efficient from Blender to my game. The asset files...
