Found this good buy at a website for a USB gps for Pandora or what not, around 20 bucks http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=LT...GPS&cpc=JAD
Not sure what chipset it is

Says its "ST Micro and SiGE chipsets " right on the page, still give no specified chipset though...

Also mentioned requiring Internet explorer and some form of windows or boot camp for the mac, so you would either have to write your own driver for the thing or forget it. :(

Otherwise its a pretty good find, GPS on the Pandora would defiantly be a plus to some people. ;)

Well those requirements are usually only for running the software that comes with the device - not using the device :p
For real, the only sure way to know is to find a linux box and plug it in, but NMEA = ASCII over a "serial link" - it might work with one of the many usb to serial converter drivers in linux, but no guarantees. And sorry if im totally wrong - i havent personally used a GPS device in linux.

It's an NMEA-compatible receiver, which means it will most likely work pretty much out-of-the-box in recent kernels.

I did a quick Google search to check, and yes, it does work, and it has for quite a long time.
