Hi,

For those who don't know what it is:

"CrossOver is a Microsoft Windowscompatibility layer available for Mac OS andLinux. This compatibility layer enables manyWindows-based applications to run on Mac OS or Linux operating systems.

CrossOver is developed by CodeWeavers and based on Wine, an open-source Windows compatibility layer. CodeWeavers modifies the Wine source code, applies compatibilitypatches, adds configuration tools that are more user-friendly, automated installation scripts, and provides technical support. All changes made to the Wine source code are covered by the LGPL and publicly available onWineHQ."

-> https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrossOver_(software)

I know that there is an old thread about CrossOver from Codeweaver, it's talking about free trial day:

-> https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/codeweavers-crossover-free-for-a-day.42253/

Here I'm talking about the release of the source code of the 15.0.1 version:

For some windows software/game it works better than Wine. If we can use It on Pandora/Pyra maybe we would get better results than Wine for some software.

If it runs without exagear, does that mean that it would works better than exagear + wine?

Without exagear or qemu, the only thing crossover could do is run Windows games compiled to ARM... There really isn't many outside of Notaz's static recompiled ports. ex Starcraft, Diablo games.
Assuming you mean crossover is compiled to ARM, other wise it would literally do nothing.

Oh so I totally misunderstood its aim, I though it was working like wine, that we could run Windows software directly from it if it would have been ported to Pandora.

WINE/CrossOver only provides Windows API calls. The application has to either be compiled for ARM or x86>ARM cpu emulation has to also be provided.

I see, so I'm not sure about the interest of this software anymore. If a dev wants to lock it, he's welcome.

Thanks for the explanations guys.

Well, I think an updated WINE source is worth a thread. If someone ports this to ARM and it performs better than the mainline WINE, then it will have provided a service.
