Hello,

I got my brand new GP2X in the post this morning. I duly followed the instructions, slipped in the SD card, formatted it (full format, FAT32) and copied a jpg across to the unit, to test.

Windows (XP SP2) can see the drive and contents when the GP2X is plugged in. The GP2X can't. In Explorer, Music, Video, Utility .... selecting the memory card just shows a headered, nice coloured but empty screen.

Can anyone help, please?

Paul.

sorry to state the obvious but you did try the photos section didn't you?

the other sections (apart from explorer) won't display your jpeg in the list

Try reformatting the card otherwise.

Hey baykah.
To test out your Sd you should try to copy an application.
Like a small game or an emu. Then go to game menu and look if it show you any of the .gpe you have putted in.

Thanks for the replies.

Here's the deal. I've copied a few files over, and from an XP command prompt, I see:

Folder PATH listing for volume GP2X CARD
Volume serial number is 0000575B 9C99:9398
M:.
│ install_libs.tar.gz
│ install_libs.gpu
│ ShanghaiX.gpe

└───Photos
Dsc04252.jpg

But I don't see anything when I try to access these files from my GP2X

Drive properties (from XP) are: Type: Local Disk, File System: FAT32.

Firmware is 1.2.1 (I was expecting 1.4?)

Paul.

Have you even the "SD Memory card" / "NAND memory" prompt when entering any of the menu ?
Btw, if you have a Sd card reader, you should try to format and put files thru it.
This help for many problems.

I get both options. If Windows can see the card, and read/write it, doesn't that imply the card is ok?

Yes I think your Sd card is okay.
But formating Sd card thru usb cable can create some issues i think.
Have you got an usb Sd card reader ?

EDIT : issues like THIS ONE

Thanks folks, I took advice here and bought an SD card reader. Working fine now. Presumably problem is Windows XP. Shock.

Cheers again,

Paul.
