ok so before the forum went down I was trying to telnet to my gp2x from my pc. I believe I am further than before but I still don't have it working. Im running suse11 on my pc, firmware 2.0 on the gp2x, the g_ether patch, and I rebuilt my kernel with all things listed on one of the tutorial sites. previously it would just refuse connection when I tried to telnet, but after configuring some things it now it connects and asks for a user name and password. Everywhere I have read says to use "root" as the user name and to leave the password blank, but when I do this it says connection failure. If I type in anything for the password then it will tell me incorrect password. Any advice?

edit actually it says:

login: root
Password for root:
Error while reading password for 'root'
Login incorrect
login: root
Password for root:
Login incorrect
login:

where the first try I left the password blank and the second try I typed something in

Re-flash the firmware, something is wrong if it doesn't accept a root login (normally it doesn't even request a password)

Thank you. I just reflashed with firmware 2.0 from a fresh download and I still get the same response.
