Hint: Optimal rom layout with Pandafe & PCSX ReARMed

Circumstances:

  • Pandafe considers the parent of a rom to be its genre.
Therefore a rom's associated files (a set consisting of multiple files, i.e. cue&bin) must reside directly within the genre folder, not nested within a rom-folder within the genre folder.
  • Otherwise Pandafe mistakes "rom-folder" as the genre.
[*]The good thing is, that PCSX ReARMed (since what revision?) in its rom selection mode (browsing mode) has the ability to show/hide a rom's other associated files via the "Y" key (from the A/B/X/Y gaming keys, not the letter Y).
  • Therefore this "flat" file layout does not result in a overcrowded rom list.
Convenient! If you sort your roms accordingly (example below) you will get the best out of the 2 apps! :)

My old layout:

path/to/roms/psx/

  genre1/

    game1/

       game1.cue

       game1.bin

       game1.whateverelse

    game2/

       game2.cue

       game2.bin

       game2.whateverelse

  genre2/

    game3/

       game3.cue

       game3.bin

       game3.whateverelse

My new layout:

path/to/roms/psx/

  genre1/

     game1.cue

     game1.bin

     game1.whateverelse

     game2.cue

     game2.bin

     game2.whateverelse

  genre2/

     game3.cue

     game3.bin

     game3.whateverelse

Pandafe and PCSX (with the enabled function "hide associated files") display it as this:

path/to/roms/psx/

  genre1/

     game1

     game2

  genre2/

     game3
