Too cool isn't it? (apologies if this has already been discussed.)

Too bad that the only one this really works for is the NES, (and I guess the Sega Master system, but I don't think anyone would get it.)

Stop the presses, a Giant atari controller would kick ass! Almost makes me want to do one. Or a spinner footstool :)

Look at the size of that NES controller.. Man, that is one huuuuuge NES controller. I'd never be able to use an NES controller that big! Woah!

I was actaully hoping he could make it wireless and able to play on your lap, that would be so cool.

If you watch the vid he plays mario with his girlfriend on the jump button. (It is kind of like one of those TV shows where a couple drives a car, but one on gas and one on steering).

Hey, more info please!

Is that an LCD TV? What do the cartridges do? Store movies/games?

OK, thanks to hot-linking I have my answers pretty easily:

http://gameman.loungespot.com/ (Warning, this entire site is RED, it hurt my eyes, set your browser to disallow background color before you go. If you have an older CRT monitor and red is pretty weak you probably won't have as much trouble as I did.)

BTW It is not a NES controller - it is a Coffee Table. So it have not game controller functionality. Do you see any cables out of this?

Hello? Did you even follow the link?

http://ultra-awesome.blogspot.com/2008/05/...l-post-rah.html

OK, here is another link, the aptly named:

Feature: Giant NES Controllers That Actually Function

Oh, what is this? A video of him playing it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c3q9K4cHzY

Still confused? Oh, then here is your cord (PS this was at the bottom of the first link. It is in the first post of this thread, at the very top):

NES coffee table update 6: wiring and final construction

BTW, thanks for an excuse to bump the thread :), Like I needed one ;).

And double thanks for letting me find another giant NES controller:

http://technabob.com/blog/2007/12/12/giant...ls-pc-case-mod/

http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/898.html

This one Doesn't work apparently, it is just a PC case, maybe that is what you are thinking of?

$300 isn't impressive, but I am assuming that they didn't have the PC parts on hand. And it was a couple years ago.

Here is the construction gallery

http://www.foxure.com/pjnintendo/

I bet that the money was spent on vacu-forming the buttons, and that was the one area I wasn't exactly impressed with the functional NES controller. The finish on vacu-formed plastic might be closer to the finish on a real NES controller.

It is so sad that I am not a big fan of the NES, probably because I never owned one. Other controllers aren't exactly simple to do this on.

Speaking of giant PC Cases, what about Tetris, and each "piece" is a computer on the network?

EVEN BIGGER, WORLD'S LARGEST, from G4 TV

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=simqlREvRH4

I must say that the first one I posted is still the most original looking one, the G4 one has the wrong radius on all the edges, no raised panels, and incorrect buttons.

But still, it is HUGE, so it has that going for it.

Skip to about 5:17 in that video to see construction of the worlds largest NES controller (and yes, their claim makes me want to do a seriously huge one. Like people need to jump on the buttons huge).

They put a power strip and the NES inside the controller. Also they seem to be using normally closed switches that are held open by the face of the controller, when you push the button they move away from the face and activate. This might account for when he pushes left and it doesn't go, as you can't actually feel when it activates.

Bump stops and a little tuning could easily fix that though.

I love those DIY video game projects. They showcased the big NES controller on G4 TV, and I think they even built another one and showed the process. After seeing that, some guy did the opposite and made the SMALLEST NES controllre in the world. He used special paper to print a circuit on a piece of special paper and somehow wired it up to the nes controller circuit board. Then he played on it with tweezers! LOL

aah, its been done.

all you need is WOOD, PAINT, and TIME
OK, here is the wood and paint. ;)

I know you meant sandpaper, router, hole saw, drill, file, primer, soldering iron, wire, etc etc.

Hey statikeffeck, I believe I linked to that video in my big angry post :) (can't blame you for missing it though.)
