I thought Vista was a hog and it turns out that it runs 64bit mame faster than Windows XP x64. The problem is a video utility called soft15khz i run doesn't work in Vista x64. :-(

Have you guys noticed that 64bit mame is significantly slower in XP x64? even slower than XP x86? thanks. here are parameters I use so you can try to replicate your score. It's also mame v0.126. thanks!

mame-v126.exe -noautoframeskip -frameskip 0 -seconds_to_run 100 -nothrottle -nosleep -video ddraw -skip_gameinfo -effect none -nowaitvsync -noreadconfig –mt %rom%

Edit: Fixed table the old fashioned way. I wish this board supported
, <table>, or at least multiple consecutive spaces :( -Chip

Chip, you rock, thanks tons. On some of the other forums, there's a tag that that lets fixed space fonts be used along with spaces but I couldn't find it on this board. I guess it doesn't exist here. thanks for correcting.

Okay it turns out after patching or tweaking some BIOS settings, the CPU defaulted back to its 1.86ghz. Put memory speed and FSB back to the way it was and bam. I guess at this rate, I won't need Vista x64 since new tests show XP x64 running 64bit mame is the same speed since i turn off just about every feature and service I can on Vista anyway.

Even MALA and xvid seem to play together better now. Can't wait to customize hyperspin tool. The system now plays a lot of games that wasn't playable before. One of the ones I'm really getting into now is Strider 2. Plays very much like the original but smoother animation and good 3d graphics.

FYI, this is what I bought for US$300 from someone on craigslist. Not a steal but a pretty descent deal considering the mobo is around US$60, CPU around US$160, and the memory around $60. Plus the guy left orthos running overnight overclocked so had the CPU failed, I would have just walked away. You can never tell how well a CPU/mobo combo will overclock until you try your particular copy.
