would it be possible to run Puppy Linux on the Pandora?

minimum system requirements for Puppy

  • CPU : Pentium 166MMX
  • RAM : 128 MB physical RAM for releases since version 1.0.2 or failing that a Linux swap file and/or swap partition is required for all included applications to run; 64 MB for releases previous to 1.0.2
  • Hard Drive : Optional
  • CDROM : 20x and up
I think the Pandora should easily be able to run Puppy with a few changes.

I checked their page and see no mention of an ARM port of their OS. As you may or may not be aware but the Pandora uses and ARM CPU, not a typical x86 processor most PCs, MACs or netbooks use. A special Linux build needs to be made to support the processor.. All the major linux distros have at least started making ARM versions over the last several years, seems Puppy hasn't released one yet.

Nothing's impossible, but considering the above along with the fact that it's a relatively niche OS + very few pandora units out there means you'll likely be waiting quite a long time foran ARM version to be released by the puppy community, and then have somebody port it over.
