If Class 4 is the max. (tbc?) then these seem good value...

Anyone find cheaper?

The 64Gb is almost the same price as a Pandora(!)

holy shit wtf happened to the pound? I thought you guys were higher than a dollar at one point?

nevermind, i fail at math

I think on the Best Buy or Walmart website there's a 16GB class 4 for around $40. I'm not sure.

The Pandora is a computer. Reasonably higher speed cards could be well worth investment.
If the Pandora gets too bottlenecked by a card then you will waste more time loading your levels/apps.
Perhaps you should consider starting out with a smaller capacity faster card for regularly used items.
Then you could add High capacity slower card if your other gets too full.

Looking at the money side of things, you are SO much better off having several 8Gb/16Gb cards in a wallet than one or two 32Gb / 64Gb cards.
At the end of the day, I can't imagine having a file so big it wont fit on an 8Gb card(!)

Also, let's say you have a wad of 8Gb cards, and you lose one... it's not the end of the world, nor is it a claim on your house insurance, but lose a 64Gb card and that's a whole world of hurt, LOL!

These are likely what I will be going with for mass storage. Tom's Hardware benchmarked them at 19-20mb/s read and 13-16mb/s write, even though they are Class 6.

I was thinking of maybe getting a fast 8gb for commonly used applications and swap, but I won't bother if one of these transcend cards maxes it out.

Is class 4 the max? If so that would make life cheaper. I have seen a 32gb class 6 for about £50. There's a class 10 16gb card for around £30. On the other hand I could pick up a couple of 16gb class 4 shoddy shites for £30 so I'd appreciate knowing if this class 4 max thing is true.

Does anyone actually reliably know?

I'll be mainly using the build-in operating system so I don't really need all those über fast SD cards that cost quite a lot.

Two 8GB or 16GB cards should be more than enough for me. This way I can stomp some complete ROM packs on there and still have some space for various other things. The 32GB+ cards are still too expensive per GB, but you are a little more "ready for the future" with these.

i still have some 32gb sandisk ultra 15/mb/sec read cards if anyones interested in usa, for around $85

I'd like to hear about the max class supported before I buy.
Class 10 is a rated write speed of 10MB/s. There have been tests upwards of 16MB/s. Therefore there is no class that the Pandora can't handle.
Of course, most cards greatly exceed their class rating under normal use, and getting a really good card because it is advertised as being better than its class might be overkill.

32GB SD cards are still a bit out of my price league and not very common in the UK. I bought a Transcend 16GB Class 4 and a PNY 16GB Class 4. Should be enough for me, even with PSX images etc.

Also looking for a 32 GB sd card. I have some good experience with Sandisk, not with Transcend and also some bad experiences with 'no name' disks.
Thinking about buying: Sandisk Ultra II SDHC 32GB Class 4, 86 Euro.

Is that a good SD card for GP2X and Pandora?

32GB Class 4 SDHC - £64.99 - http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/6108330/Play-com-32GB-SD-HC-Memory-Card/Product.html - at least you know that it'll be genuine.

The class is the minimum speed in MB/s while doing continuous writes. It doesn't say much about the actual average speeds.

The maximum possible speed for SDHC-cards is 24MB/s. (~50Mhz, 4bits)

I know, doesn't the brand say more about the quality and at least assurance of minimal average speed.
BTW. do emulators need high speed transfer? My main concern is data failure. I had lots of issues with nameless brands in the past.

This seems good value:)
