The Communication Cube

Yeah, I don't quite see the need for this to be stand-alone. Lilygo also make a LORA watch https://lilygo.cc/products/t-watch-2020-v3
If you are in an emergency, the T-Deck would be a stand-alone device to communicate with. So it's an easy way to enter LORA. It still allows a phone to be connected btw. while the T-beam and echo still require a smartphone to be used.
They also introduced an e-paper smartphone-shaped device: https://lilygo.cc/products/t5-e-paper-s3-pro

Prepare Yourself Richtig (for the) Apocalypse.. PYRA!
Have you checked how big the solar panels must be to operate it continuously? The Pandora did quite well with 3 A4 solar panels (during summer).

Solar panels on the roofs of electric cars is a natural fit but i guess we like sun roofs too much.

It's not like you can't put solar panels on car roofs, or like it never makes sense or anything.
It might be somewhat useful sometimes.
But most cars don't spend enough time on the sun. And in some places leaving a car in the sun means having a hard time getting into it (because it gets too hot), and then wasting a lot of energy for air conditioning.
Many cars are parked in closed garages (they say this extends the life of the car, maybe it depends on the climate or the brutality of the passers by).
When driving, cars pass through shadows, change direction and get dirt and pollution on them, which isn't ideal for PV efficiency.

And if it was me, cars wouldn't even have so big batteries, or if they had them, they'd be removable, so that you don't have to waste energy moving them for short trips.

I believe solar panels are best placed in high, sunny, fixed places, and then with a little cable and some gadgetry they can fill a car battery, no need to move the panels around.

Now if you live in a van (or you do sometimes) you may want to park it somewhere you can unfold solar panels from the roof, and get some independence and usefulness.
If it's not too much trouble you can have part of them working when folded (for instance moving), but not so important. But maybe you could just save them inside the van and unfold them on the floor next to it when parked.

What I mean is that if you really like sun roofs too much, don't worry, enjoy them.

my point is ev's are a scam. they are not very green at all. in fact they allow cars to be coal powered.

I totally missed your point.
All cars are a scam. Moving a 100 kg animal who has its own legs with a 4000 kg machine is absurd.
Being able to decouple the energy consumer from the energy producer at least gives some chance of ending coal.
But the real solution is not moving.

Btw, whether all life suffers is anyone's guess.
Would a life be worth living if there was no suffering?
It appears to be a good motivation for people to do things to prevent suffering.
I don't like us all dying but it appears to be life's way to introduce updates on us humans.
Sadly people aren't producing those updates much these days.

But the real solution is not moving.
While I agree that would be better, EV's appear to be a cleaner way to transit compared to regular cars. I don't own one as they are expensive and I still find them impractical with the charging they require (I probably would manage I guess). You need to be living in a neighborhood which infrastructure facilitates EV's.
So until we don't have to travel much anymore, EV's appear to be okay-ish. Even if you take into account the additional energy to produce the cars / batteries and afterwards the recycling / disposal.

I opted for buying two Heltecs costing the same as the basic t-deck. So there's always one running at basecamp and the other goes on my person/in the car/on the bike. Having a nice phone touch screen also helps. And I always have that in my pocket anyways. Maybe if you had a spare t-deck you could give that to somebody in an emergency where they can't install the app on their phone... an edge case I haven't put any thought in.

Reminds me I stil haven't bought a CB radio.

An SDR could solve that problem if you combine it with GNU Radio Companion. I think in theory you could cover 27MHz with a cheap SRD. You do require a suitable antenna and amp to get a good range.
I guess you run into the same problem with LORA although it exists to cover long ranges by default. LORA does have the 'problem' that you need to be on the same frequency/settings, so currently I only cover 433 and 868MHz.

P: Yes. All suffering does is hold you back and stop you from doing what you want to.
Most people just want to survive. When achieved they usually don't know what to do except eating and being entertained.

This system undermines/de-cultivates peoples intrinsic motivations - for me it was predominantly school - or disillusions them - to many people in their immediate environment who seem to cannot find room to thrieve (can't find a (fair) job or sth). So that's what you get to see.
