Thruster is a fast paced cave flyer where the goal is to reach as high as you can without crashing while eroding the landscape with your thruster. To do so you will need some fast reflexes and a good eye.

Download Thruster for GP2X

Featuring:
- Three different game modes
- Two difficulty levels
- High score tables with replay - You can watch previous games and see how the high scores were done.
- Beautiful backgrounds by Mentis and Mrpropre
- Three included ogg tracks with the ability to add any MOD, MP3 or OGG files to the tracklist.
- More than 2K particles in play at once

Installation:
Install all the files and folders in the directory of your choice. Directory structure must remain intact.

How to play:
Fly as high as you can, erode the landscape with your thruster.
Joystick moves left/right, the more you push the faster your ship turns.
X/B/Right Trigger is the Thrust button.
Left Trigger is slowdown (slower turning speed, not thrust)
Select is pause.

Customization:
Add music in MOD, MP3 or OGG format to ./sounds
Make sure the filename isn't huge, max of 256 characters.

Credits:
Programming - ANDREW KEARNS
Music and Art - MICHAL WISNIOWSKI
Title Art - MRPROPRE

Thanks to the author of Spout who gave me the inspiration to make this game. Thruster is 100% new code done originally to enter into the DCEmu contest, but unfortunately that contest was cancelled.

Thanks also to all the testers who kept me going.

If you would have submitted this into the community contest, im sure it would have done well.

Anyone know any good songs that would be good for the background music?

Thanks! I only managed to get the gp2x stuff compiling about a week and a half ago. It took me that long to get this far.

Awesome. Really finished game, love the different modes and the replay function. Glad to see more zodiac developers getting a gp2x too.

I've just finished reviewing the bugs in the beta and you already released the game?
You are really fast.
Anyway- one simple word to describe this simple game :
Incredible!

Well it has been released on Zodiac for a couple months. I just wanted to know I didn't mess anything up in the port. Beta was probably the wrong word...sorry! :D

Tried this out, it's a lot trickier if you compare it to spout...
I think the gravity is turned up higher or something :S

It seems the ship inertia is less so by thrusting you will accelerate quicker. Makes it faster paced and tougher.

When I first tried this I couldn't get anywhere. I got better after awhile but it is still hard. I think you can get good at it after you get used to it though.

Great game. For a first port to the GP2X it surely is an awsome job! Thanks.

a "gravity" system a la "spout" should do the trick :)
i enjoyed the "andrenaline" mode .. perfect

nice remake
you have my vote :)

Great work, very funny, a little bit difficult in the firsts games but really a good game

So it's like an improved version of spout? This could end up being my favorite GP2X homebrew! I'll try it soon. Thanks! :D
Basically, yeah. It's Spout with richer graphics (though I think the low-res black and white might have been a design choice for Spout), music, and a menu interface. It plays more or less the same though... think of it as Spout with a fresh coat of paint.

Very well done :)
