Intro:
Tilematch is a neat little puzzle game for the gp2x. While it is a
clone of a popular nintendo game, its addictiveness, pitch-perfect
difficulty level and attractive presentation assure it a memorable
spot in the pantheon of gp2x games. What lifts the game above other
puzzlers for the gp2x is its professional presentation.

Gameplay: 4/5
The gameplay is simple, but very effective. Presented with a grid of
different animal icons, the player must combine rows of three of more
of the same icon to clear some space and cause new animal icons to
come falling down. Skilled users can often cause a cascading effect
that removes dozens of animals. Removing animals adds time to the
clock and helps achieve the level goals (which increase with each
level).

Originality/ Innovation: 1/5
While the graphics are neat and original, the game is a direct rip-off
of a Nintendo game.

Use of Graphics: 3/5
The graphics are simple but very effective. The animation of the
animals falling, vanishing and cascading is very well executed.

Use of Sound: 3/5
The sound is very good for a homebrew game, including a cool
electronic "tttileeematttch" said at the start which you will probably
be repeating yourself as you play.

Usability: 4/5
The game is extremely polished, in fact, one of the most polished
available for the gp2x. The menus and high scores all work to create a
complete game experience. Installing went without a problem. A few
other types of gameplay would've aided the game immensely, instead of
the simple beat-the-clock types offered.

Overall (not an average): 4/5
What makes Tilematch a sensational game is the fact that it is a
complete game. The graphics and sounds are appropriate and the
gameplay is addictive, fun, easy-to-learn and challenging. A few more game
modes would've made this perfect, but on the whole, the best homebrew
game I have seen on the gp2x to date. Well done!

A fair review of a great game. I still think Tilematch is the best homebrew game on the GP2x, although Guyfawkes Squares game is also pretty good. Care to give that the once over next?
