I'm announcing an idea for a mobile downloading client, named [removed - proposed as TorrenTrawl even if that isn't quite so cool] so far. The basic idea is to have an app that can take advantage of open wireless access points, connect and be able to download from bit torrent, Limewire, Bearshare, or which ever popular P2P network you prefer, as well as downloading content off of websites.

This app would also include a folder that would be password encoded and encrypt the downloaded files so when viewed by an external source, or on the Pandora itself without a password the folder shows up empty. This app could also have a similar function to IP Guardian, possibly scrambling your IP and/or mac address.

(Note: This is all speculation and I have no idea if my idea is practical, that is why I am only posting an idea and why I'm not a developer.)

Feel free to suggest or use this idea, since I have no plans on developing it.

I don't think that's the kind of image Pandora wants to project. Perhaps someone will be interested in running with such an idea, but these forums aren't the place for it imo.

arr. one would think that the apps made for a system wouldn't reflect on the system

LOOKL GUYS I MADE A PORNOGRAPHJY PROGREME FOR WINDOWS AND NOW ITS REPUTATON IS RUANED

Well, its not like anyone has to develop it, and besides why would a single program tarnish the image of a unit.

I'm thinking more in the context of these forums, and their rules. Discussion of piracy as an issue is allowed, but discussion of specific piracy sites etc is not. A thread about an app that helps people pirate, with pirate in the title and a big picture of a pirate, is less than subtle.

Anyway, it's not my call, carry on.

It's fun to charter an accountant
And sail the wide accountancy,
To find, explore the funds offshore
And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy!
It can be manly in insurance.
We'll up your premium semi-annually.
It's all tax deductible.
We're fairly incorruptible,
We're sailing on the wide accountancy!

Well with the new laws that are coming in to effect all over the western world with Governments having the right to look at your data transfers without a warrant this app could be see more as a tool for personal integrity since AFAIK only France has laws against encrypted data being transfered over their borders? :)
And the Pirate is just to show we don't surcome to government oppression ;P

OK, I'm against piracy at its basis. But in many countries you can copy copyrighted material if you have access to original for personal use only - or in other words you can copy anything but you can't share it (this is not allowed with software, just with media - books, fotos, music, video,...). For this right you pay from every sold media (not from blank paper and crayons yet) as CD, DVD, HDD, Flash and from devices (not from bare hands, ears and eyes yet) printers, writers, dvd recorders, PCs. This is common in EU and every state of EU have its own modification, restrictions etc.

AND nowadays some countries starting spying internet communication (Know Orwel's 1984 book?), as some socialistic countries was. I live 18 years in socialism (Czech) and its very frustrating. You can't freely speak because "somebody" may listening, you can't freely write letter, because "somebody" may read it before delivering. Oh boys (and girls) this is insane.

I convinced with some network with encrypted communication. So people can freely speak, write and share files without care about "somebody" spying.

edit: And just by law, you can't ask neighbor for record video for you, if you go on holidays, because if (s)he do it foro you, (s)he is pirate (redistribute copyrighted material - god, you see this)!

^ this app seems to offer more than the standard p2p clients. I like the idea of the privacy most of all.

Privacy can be done with encrypted Filesystems. Its easy. Would be nicer someone develop/port a nice gui to manage encrypted Filesystems.

There is no point in having a special "pirate" application - you will be able to run p2p clients to the Pandora.
I Agree.
And for those how want a multiple P2P Client. Have a look at mldonkey.

I've changed the name and removed the original picture, because whilst I can see some potential benefits to this app, I'm not entirely keen on endorsing it under its present flag. As something promoted for generally being efficient and using connections you happen to pass by, it sounds good. As something specifically designated to promote piracy, it feels a little wrong as a topic for this board.

Unless you can get unsecured connections to assign you an IP *very* fast indeed, though, I don't see too many benefits, unless you walk everywhere. But if you do walk everywhere, then it might, conceivably, be rather interesting.

Nice new Name

Its better this way. And looks not that much "dirty" than befor

..and nice movie. That could be the trailer for piratship.. aehh Torrentrawl

Brilliant. That is funny.

I never exactly got the point of the anti-piracy ads, it seemed to be inviting the guys who stole cars to try out pirating movies. It is a kind offer, but if they are stealing the cars maybe they pay for their movies, and the solid gold player/HDTV to watch it on.
