I Mean No Offense But???

cuz it was silly.....

the fact of the matter is that (i don't thinnk) that there can be a button to be pressed and GP32 FIRMWARE ERASED OMFG!!!!!!! HAX@RS R0X0RS.

its not gonna happen, ever, and who would do that to a gp32?

plus you'd have to do it while gp was connected to gp.

youre silly.

Some dodgy person could write a trojan .fxe .
A program that delets your firmware.
Just like that one you use to flash gp32s.
Imagine someone calling a .fxe streetfightergp and you turn load the fxe and a screen appears just saying "now erasing firmware, please don't reset."

and i quote.
there is no such thing as a stupid question in here.

Yes as I have many on my pc as I type.
I didn't mean a trojan but an .fxe designed to do harm.
Could people do it?
If you run it I believe they could format your smc or flash your firmware.

Only download stuff from trusted sources like GP32x, and similar. Large trusted sources who test everything they upload. I doubt there are many (I doubt there are any) games or apps that one of the large communites like this one, and gp32news, etc... havent tested.

If you download junk from some unknown site, from some unknown author, then thats the chance you take. You can always test it out in geepee32, or post a question about this obscure, unknown game/app in these forums, if you are really curious.

Yeah its just on an xbox forum this spammer who kept using ip blocking to get back in made pointed me to a prog I needed but did not read the terms of conditions and ended up wit ha pc full of viruses. Could a pocket pc get a virus?

Considering it uses Microsoft software, it's more than likely. Probably has a few dozen exploitable security flaws as well when they connect to the net :p :)

Seriously speaking though, any OS that can run programs in the background can get a virus. GP32 progs access the hardware directly (well, some indirectly through an SDK, but it still not through the OS). Only chance of the GP32 getting a virus is if someone released a new firmware with one already in it that hooked itself to a few interrupt handlers. Not very likely !

do you even know what a trojan is?
is a trojan a program that looks as if it's gonna be nice but f**ks up your system somehow? could be pretty easy on the gp32 due to it's flashable firmware... but unlikely due to small user base...
