Great Britian & Ireland, Australia and New Zeland are going to be involved in a 3 nation tournament in October, which is after the Superleague Grand Final. Each team will play each other twice, with the two best teams getting through to the final.

My British team would be:

1 Fullback - Kris Radlinski - Wigan
2 Wing - Brian Carney - Wigan
3 Center - Keith Senior - Leeds
4 Center - Martin Gleeson - St Helens
5 Wing - Chev Walker - Leeds
6 Stand Off - Richard Horne - Hull
7 Scrum Half - Sean Long - St Helens
8 Prop - Stewart Fielden - Bradford
9 Hooker - Kieron Cunningham - St Helens
10 Prop - Adrian Morley - Sidney City
11 Second row - Andrew Farrell - Wigan
12 Second row - Jamie Peacock - Bradford
13 Loose Forward - Paul Sculthorpe - St Helens

14 Substitute - Danny McGuire - Leeds
15 Substitute - Gareth Ellis - Wakefield
16 Substitute - Paul Anderson - Bradford
17 Substitute - Eorl Crabtree - Huddersfield

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH,

I prefer Union
There is no reason to like one and hate the other just because it isn't the same. You can at least try watching a recent match before condeming it, especially if it is your nation being represented.

I currently live in London, and have found a strange trend, everyone who I have asked who likes union seems to hate league. I ask them which was the last game they watched, and they don't remember. When I ask them to at least try watching a match, they enjoy it and tell me that it is better than they expected. Obviously if a union game is on at the same time as a league game (and this happens about twice a year) then they will watch the union game as it is the sport they grew up with, but rugby league is a very entertaining game and, most people don't know this, more people watch rugby league at club level than rugby union.

just never really liked it,

we always played union at school and college, league just seems too american footbally
Fair enough, I realise that you will have a bad opinion of the sport if you believe that it is like american football, but I can guarentee you that it is much closer to rugby union.

However, if you were to just give it a try I honestly believe that your views will change. If you can watch Wigan vs Leeds on Saturday 19th June, I think the match is on Sky sports at 6pm, but I will have to check - it may get shifted an hour or two because of Euro 2004.

Since living in London, I have suggested watching rugby league matches to a lot of people who like union but don't like league because of the same reason as you, or they think no-one passes etc... etc.... Every single person who has actually watched a game after my suggestion has liked it and gone on to watch others, because the sport is fast and entertaining.

IRELAND! But I doubt it.

I dont even know the differance in League and Union.
Ooohhh... Brian Carney won't like you saying that. He is Irish and got voted the best player of the Superleague season in 2003, as well as being sellected in the Worlds best 13 team and he is hell bent on setting up rugby league in Ireland. He used to play Gaelic football, but is now a fantastic rugby league winger.
