What program can I use to rename files while on the gp32(like a file manager) - also

Is there a utility to rename files on the PC to transfer to the gp32 - eg, 8 character changer\give it a 3 character .extension?

There is a patch for pclinc 1.2 (english) to avoid 8 character limit in pclink (http://people.inf.elte.hu/ph0x/gpscumm/pclexfix.exe)
To rename extensions of multiple files try ms-dos comand REM *.XXX (XXX=your choice)

Byes

If you are using windows, right click on the file, select rename, then enter the new name.

Now that completely defeats the point - ??? lol - As if I'm gonna rename a 100 c64 games or 30 files or something! thats why I ask

Typo :)

Just in case you don't actually know it, the command in dos/command prompt is (if you want to rename Game Gear games to the format the GP32 wants, for example) REN *.GG *.GGG - first being current filename, end being finishing filename. Just run cmd c:\gp32 or whatever to open it up in the right directory.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm suggesting you're dumb, but I know people who were surprised there was Donkey Kong games before Donkey Kong Country! (of course, I'm older than them, but they aren't kids!)

Yep - I knew that but you still cannot rename down to 8 characters in DOS but there is a patch available for pc link in which it eliminates the 8ch rule!

actually you can...if the filename is like 'Stupid Guy With Big Hat.smc' you can rename it by doing it like this:

ren "Stupid Guy With Big Hat.smc" stupidguy.smc

Dunno about patches/programs...I've heard there is, but it makes little sense. I'm pretty sure that rule is hard coded. In any case, no programs actually support long filenames...including the frodo port :( if you're a fast typer it helps, but it's actually probably just to use explorer for renaming that...
