Ive downloaded some ISO's for my DC, and some of them are well over 700mb. DO DC's read cds over 700mb (i.e 800mb/90min and 890mb/99min)? My friends oldish PC doesnt. ALthough it is quite old. Older than some dinosaurs infact.....

you can burn 800 megs on a 700 meg cdr
its called overburning

it works fine
i have skies of arcadia burned on a cdr

Do you mean iso-files or just creating a cd from plain files (homebrews and emu's)?
they have to be iso's or they wont boot

Yes it works fine. How the CD accomplishes this is by removing the error checking data which saves about 100mb. This error checking data is used only if the disc is really scratched up, and at that point you should really burn a new copy anyway.

afaik Those cd-r's are just discs that are guaranteed to overburn, so they should do (haven't tried it though).

Just try overburning first, you'll have to do exactly the same thing with the 800/900MB discs, only with less chance of producing a coaster.

Ok i think i put it wrong. I meant if someone knew how to create a working iso from a plain file, without making an image file first or burn an imagefile made by anyone else.

they should work
cd-rws don't work though without modding the cd drive

there is a program called selfboot
download it from somewhere on dcemulation.com
and follow the easy instructions
