Just whether anyone else considers themselves a Geek (or others on this board)..

hmmm,

i spent month deliberating over my laptop, my mates just buy the first one they see

i read geek.com

i read somethingawful.com

i laughed my ass of at office space

i bought a rio karma when everyone else buys ipods, i based the choice on battery life and the quality of the sound chip.

i own a gp32 for fucks sake!

I read Slashdot. I roleplay. I know what HTML stands for and why C is called C. And, of course, I own a GP32.

Can I really be anything BUT a geek?

Erm I know HTML, VB, Pascal, a tiny bit of C and Java. I also spend 8 or so hours a day on average and know alot about games so yea im a geek... although I do go out; party, go clubbing and other stuff that non geeks do lol.

nothing too get angry about it's just a poll

hmmm...
on a lighter note A geek is someone who has no social skills and lots of you obviously do have social skills - apart from you spray ;)

i on the other hand prefer to call myself a techie

hehe, wasn't dissing, was highlighting my own geekyness!

at the same time i contrast my geeky leaning with other things...

i have almost no acne
i'm not greasy
i hate playing games online
i'm rather poor at most games
i have a HOT girlfriend and have never suffered when it comes to the fairer sex
i'm able to hold a conversation with people
i have a very active social group consisting mainly of people who have no interest in anything technical at all!

I voted no, because I have a pretty active social life, get on with the women, and generaly do non-geeky things.

Im a bit of one though.

I suppose I am a geek, but that's only because I have a girlfriend who I have been with for almost two years now (she's great:D) and I don't see the need for a social life lol.

I always hated PC stuff though. Far too complicated, although my new laptop is becoming sexually appealing.

I chose '...' because I don't quite know what it's supposed to mean.

As for being a geek/nerd, I don't class myself as either, I'm just a bit of everything guy and technology is one of my vices.

I've been told I'm an all rounder.

Pity me and me girlfriend just split though :(

iPods are fairly geeky due to their vast expense, but this is declining.

'a "computer geek" is someone who spends too much time on the computer and has no social life. ' <-- me pretty much, except I do go out every so often and am very social then lol :) Mastered the pick-up art, can handle my drink and have a lot of friends. Just spend a lot of time talking to them on MSN instead of real life. Oh well.

If you own a gp32 your fall into the catagory of "cool geek" in saying you're a geek but you've got cool stuff and know how to do cool things.

erm I found html exciting while learning it and I'm exited about learning c. My parents bought a lock for the study so I get banned etc. I get stressed when I'm not on the pc for more than half an hour at home. I own a gp32. I love games. And I think Beethoven is cool.
BRING ON THE INSULTS!

Hrm... "geek" is a compliment to me. I take it as a badge of honour; geeks are smarter than other people, and we are therefore the ELITE. :D
AHAHAHAH!!!

Er... yes...

I'm more of an artistic/science geek though; I know practically nothing about computers & programming but I do like Tchaikovsky. ;) A lot of my friends are like this too, & they're also all into politics. I'm pretty sure there are different categories for "geeks" as well...

My idea of a great time is staying at home with my wife, sparking up a few jonts and playing an RPG for hours at a time.

I'd rather create CGI stuff on my PC then go to a movie.

I've seen every single episode of the original Star Trek TV show numerous times, and prefer it to any of the new incarnations (including Next generation).

I played Dungeons & Dragons during the entire decade of the 80's, and still have all my books and dice, ready to DM a campaign at a moment's notice.

Yep. 100% geek, and comfortable in my own skin :p

I enjoy clever comedies:

Alan Partridge
Smoking Room
Family Guy (stupid people dont get it)

I read sci-fi books: (not Star-Trek, more modernistic future books)

I, Robot (reading 'Escape!' atm, its brilliant)
1984
Naked Sun

I watch foreign movies

Volcano High
Battle Royale
3 colours
Ringo

I listen to music no-one else does

Steve Miller
James Brown
Jackson 5

None of my m8s do half of this stuff, so among them i am the nerd coz I am the cleverest too

Worst thing is I am not one of them studying sorts, I doss, and I'm still clever, which maybe says more aboyut my m8s than it does me

But recently I started to hang out with other people @ college who are more into it

Oh, another thing, I am the trivia king, I quote old TV shows and Video Games and know one has a fucking clue what I am on about

I just got a good memory
