Gamepark, Gp32 2 (project Name) Coming Soon!

Lol Icecream.

What are you sayin' about my creation ;)

Ideally, the software that's out right now, like homebrew emulators, apps and games, will be compatible with it, but it will use something besides SMCs. xD maybe?

If it has a bigger screen resolution, though, emulated systems would need to have screen stretching and that would use up more processor power, right? So it had better have at least a 250Mhz processor! :p

All of these new specs will most likely mean custom built-in rechargeable batteries that will eventually will need replacing. This means that if anything happened to Gamepark getting batteries would be a pain. While I would probably get one I think that the existing ones are still the most open and customizable ever. Also the emus that run 100% now won't be any better on a new system.

Personally I think it is a mistake to spend all of their money trying to beat Sony and Nintendo (which will never happen) with a new unit. I would think it would be better spent getting more good commercial games and better advertising for the existing one, and maybe even a US launch as a homebrew/MP3 player machine.
How the fuck are they trying to go up against Sony and Nintendo? Its |Open Source|.
Because of this:

"Jun Jin-Woo who develoment director of gamepark say "it will be have a best spec of existing of handheld console" and "also its design will be unprecedented shape"

It sounds like they are trying to out hardware the big boys, and are comparing it to "existing" ones which are PSP and DS when this is released.

If that is the case, Id say go for it.

This community sprouted out of nowhere, All from a then unknown korean handheld. Better specs should mean better oppertunities. :)

I say, What the hell, GO Gamepark GO!.:D

Well, they did the same thing with the GP32 - it was WAY ahead all handhelds when it has been released.
Now as the GP32 is not THAT unknown anymore, it COULD work out good :)

i hate to say but if they did make it big and started producing good comercial games, which i would really really really like but, piracy would run so rampant it would pull a dreamcast

but... think if it did have a 300mhz processor and i could overclock at the same proportion as the gp32s

really good ones could possibily get up to 650 seeing how gp32's processor is 66mhz and some can get up to 220mhz

and if it was backwards compatible :D :D :D :D i out of breath
i have to take a break

I would imagine hardware sales being their primary profit since software is shit. Piracy would be a pro as most consumers would be using it for emulation.

I don't think they will change their strategy. They have built up a good following, and (finally) have a distribution channel set up. And they already competed with the big boys in terms of hardware spec...in fact three years on and only the zodiac comes close. And yet they use cheap PDA style parts to come out at a good cost. Keep it open source and carry on producing the BLU at a cheaper price point, and they will be on to a winner. Not Sony/nintendo sized winner, but small open source pay the bill's in Korea style winner.

I do hope it's clamshell though, then it can have a huge screen!

GGAAMMEEPPAARRKK WWWIIILLLLLL RRRRUUUULLLLEEEE TTTTTHHHHHEEEEE WWWWWWOOOOOORRRRRRLLLLLLDDD!!!!!!! HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA

Two things I think the GP32 "2" will need for consumer success in the current GP32 community:

- Backwards compatibility (with all the emus you know they're going to have this)
- 3.3v SMC Slot (I have to throw away all my old SMCs? Ugh)

hmm i wouldnt be that bad for me if the remove the old SMC port an replease it with something new like SD...
but playing old gp32 stuff would be great! would be nice to see all slow gp32 programs to become a huge speedboost on the new one ;)

Well, I mean a 3.3v SMC slot in addition to whatever new media they choose.

Also, it might be tough to have backwards compatibility with a media that is unlike the SMC with hacky file loaders.

the most important thing would be more than 8MB RAM, 64 or even 128 would be great :) i really hope they do this....
then a 400mhz arm12 (esp. designed for gp32 2 :p ) touchscreen, 2 more buttons, sexy design, big screen .... *dreams*
