OK, i´m a complete newbie and i can´t get my SMC reader to work..
it worked for about the three first hours, and then it just starts saying that "there is no data on the card" or something like that..
can it be the SmartMediaCard, or is it the SMC reader..
i mean, it Detects the card, but doesn´t find any files on it..
are the cards sensitive to magnetic radiation or what??

I think the cards are fairly tough but obviously be careful with them and don't touch the gold contacts. Also I have no idea about your specific reader and computer, so read the instructions and try reinstalling any drivers etc first...

I too use a SMC reader and I must say that about 90% of people's basic problems with all manner of GP32 stuff could probably be traced to their SMC card or reader in some way. The GP32 seems to be very fussy about the SMC and its filesystem sometimes, so first off, format it via PC Link or Pacrom (where you can error check it) so it's nice and clean.

Try copying files via PC Link first to rule out a fault with the card rather than the reader. Then try the reader and if something gives you an error try recopying it first. Above all buy a good quality SMC, cheap ones are a false economy and will let you down. If you are getting unreliable files on your SMC then consider a new (and better quality) SMC or Reader. I have just been forced to look for a new reader as although there is nothing wrong with mine it was cheap and has led to a lot of problems and I suspect it is to blame for unreliable files on the GP32.

Hope this helps.

okay, so you CAN actually buy a new reader and mount it, or do you have to sent it in, or someting like that??

Not sure what you mean here but if you suspect your reader is not working properly you should take it back for a replacement. If it was a good one then a replacement should be fine, otherwise try the next better one or something. At least if you get the same one from the shop, you will find out if it was just a faulty reader...

Try changing all the variables you can at home by doing things different ways before you go to the shop to try and rule out the reader before you complain. Try using PC link and the USB cable.

I couldn't get the GP32 etc to work properly for ages when I first got it, it IS straightforward once you get used to it!

Shirohagen, I think he's talking about the one built into the GP32 ;)

As for your problem... what happens if you try to establish a connection from your unit to your PC? Go to Link Mode and open PC Link on your PC. What exactly happens?
