my local game has completely ditched all its preoder PSP posters and replaced them with DS ones, even in the PS2 section

gamestation however remain as objective as ever

If you were quick enough you could have ordered a DS from nintendo europe last week.
They had some VIP DS opackages in their stars catalogie £130 with prelease of mario DS, demos of metroid hunter and wario touch and a tshirt. Once your payment went through you could have recieved it by the end of week.

All sold out within a few days of course

there's no way they would allow for only the more expensive value pack to be sold,as that would throw the ds competition price thing out of the window,so i'm betting it's just them discouraging people for some reason to buy psp.

my thoughts are:

they will release one standard psp pack which has the console, plug, bag and screen cloth both here and the states. head phones and memory card will be impulse items placed next to the psp in stores that a fair few people will pick up.

it will priced at about £20 more than the DS so that sony can push the whole different demographic thing a little bit more, ultimately though they won't want to alienate parents etc from picking this up for the kids.

That's about what I expect. Seems to make the most sense.

I'm not sure if the guy in my Local GameStation was pulling my leg or what, but he was saying that Sony have had problems getting the PSP to play PS2 (or PS1) games...

He said (and I'm pretty sure this is bollox) that at one of the shows (possibly the launch) they had people walking around with PSPs and what looked like walkmans, which had leads going to PSPs via which PS2 games were loaded and played on the PSP - but that Sony had problems with anti-shock so that it didn't work very well...

Apparently release date is still scheduled for March, and Price is likely to be between £150 & £200 (although he added that it could be as high as £250!!)...

He went on to comment - why would anyone want to but another console to play the same games as they've already got?

At that point I left the store, with some alacrity, as I was concerned for my Mental health were I to remain...

.................

I HATE gamestore employees like that!!!! where do they GET this BS?? If I were you, I'd march back into that store with some heavy book... a phone book or something, and smack some sense into that guy. Whatever hole that guy is talking out of, I'm betting it's not his mouth :D :p

There is NO means of playing PS2 games on PSP. There never will be. That guy is spewing poo from his mouth. If I were you and I had any choice, I wouldn't ever buy anything from such a place... gamestore employees should really not be allowed to spread such misinformation.

Does the value pack come with a demo disc?

The US one will, probably the european one, the japanese one didn't, though some people did have them and were including it with them. I dont have one though :(

The demo disc sucks BTW. Its only got videos. No playable demos. The US one will be the same. Stil you can sell it on ebay for some $$$ back

oooooh, the internal hd sounds nice!
anyone hear of speculation regarding loading stuff off something like those 20gb mp3 players or flash drives via the usb port? that would be nice, but you'd have to carry your storage source along with you..

Internal HDD was a mix up, a Sony Rep said it would be an iPod killer if it had a 50gig HDD, not that it would have one.

The HD is not real of course. LOL when I read the news I knew it wasn't real. Yeah they're really going to suddenly change the design. Rightttttttt..........
