Would you pay for quality games?

I have spoken to a few friends about the idea of forming a collective to create some quality games for the GP32. I know that a lot of the homegrown stuff is superb, and the quality of the emulators is stunning considering the machine specs...

We (a collection of professional games programmers and artists/producers) would intend to create quality native games for the GP32 with shareware levels and full versions available on purchase. The games would be extremely polished and original.

The question is, would you be prepared to pay, say, £5 for a top quality GP32 game? Because of the nature of the community I don't believe people would pirate the games too much, even if they oculd get around the encryption, which I believe is not impossible..

So. let me know what your views are.. I know the installed base is somewhere between 15-150 thousand units, depending on which report you believe to have the typo ;-) so we would not be in it to amass a fortune, but the time and effort to co-ordinate and produce higher quality games should not go unrewarded, I feel.

Thanks for your help.

i would have to say : HELL YES

if we could get some original games that can rival the japanese stuff. thatd be great
i mean, who knows?
if it works, if the gp32 becomes a hit in europe, somehow makes it to the US, there could be a new rebirth of western gaming

I wonder how many copies Pinball Dreams have sold (which probably is the best GP32 game)? 1000 maybe? So I think it's very hard if you want to make a living out of it, but maybe a hobby with atleast some payoff would be possible?

Great idea. First of all thanks to posibility of downloading games they are a lot of cheaper than boxed. As far as i know, poeple over joygp just scream for new games and just want to spend a lot of money :) And whats the best, maybe there are plenty games for gba but people dont buy every cool game. IN GP32 case one thing is sure - if the game would be good, it will be bought probably by 90% of GP32 owners :)

Yes i would buy it. but make one eith a rpg or an awesome side scroller like Metal Slug. That would be awesome!!!! :D

But I thought that you would have to pay GamePark $1000s to get an encryptor and if you will just give .fxes Gamepark might get mad?!

I would pay for quality games, but i'd pay more for quality emu's
i see you would appeal to a wider audience if u made a emu for snes or small gba games or amiga and make more money

I think I speak for every GP32 owner when I say that we all are desperate for more people to code some commercial games for the GP32.

everyone who wants more commercial games should add their name to this topic. The more of us that show an interest, the more likely things will happen

Well ive just voiced my "Hell Yeah" for more/better games over emu's in another post so heres another HELL YEAH. If the're really good make it £10 i dont mind paying for somthing if its good and origonal and im both poor & tight.

add my yes to the list.

i would buy games if they are something i would like.

plus i agree with 'JDUK' in the fact that i would also pay £10 if the games are good enough.

Yep I would buy games, I would buy Pinball Fantasies buy as I dont Have a credit card (dont want one)

who don`t like using thier card on the net....

I've purchased Pinball Dreams and Movie Park and would be happy to support the development of quality games or software for the GP32 by whatever payment method.

guido

Nochex or Switch or even PayPal would be okay by me....

I don`t mind paying for them at all if I could do so.
