The ones complaining about the brightness of emulators are those with FLUs and NLUs,  ;)  I never once heard anyone but you bitch about that on a BLU.

Why don't you stop your stupid nonsense typing and do a search then .

I've seen 4-5 threads with people saying that DrMD and others are to dark on the BLU .

And I'm not bitching , since when is stating an opinion bitching.

Grow up Dave

I can't believe that you say you had a Zodiac and you didn't notice a HUGE difference between it and the BLU.

Did you have them both at the same time where you could do a side by side comparison ?

The Zodiac is a LOT brighter which makes the blacks blacker and gives it a lot more contrast and detail.

That being said. Might there be a way to increase the brightness of the backlight ?
Maybe a fuse on the motherboard that can be changed out with a lower ohm resistor to increase the light a bit ?

I changed the resistor on my FLU and made it a lot brighter. But then when I sold it I forgot to change it back and the guy that bought it complained about the 2-3 hour battery life.

DrMd is bright as hell on my FLU... you can adjust gamma levels you know... try a 5 on the really dark games and a 3 on normal games... geeeze

Aren't we supposed to be geeks here? You guys sound like a bunch of babies... "My gp32 is too dark... boo hoo hoo..."

Once again I will have to laugh at the ignorance of people.

Since when is posting an opinion on the brightness and quality of a screen being a baby ?

I have only stated a fact. It's darker and not as good a quality as the Zodiac. And in fact it's not even as bright as the DS.

If you love your GP32 then thats fine. I love mine to . But a facts a fact. The screen is not of the highest quality. And the buttons and stick are not the highest quality . And it needs 2 more buttons.

I love it but I'm not ignorant , if theres a problem I'll call it like I see it.

I'm nobody's FANBOY !!!

I'm with you on everything but the brightness issue... are you telling me you can't find a gamma setting you consider bright? perhaps the issue is specifically with YOUR gp32.

Well... finally played with a DS today. Gotta say I wasnt really that impressed, aminly due to the smallness of the screens. Roll on the PSP - no contest by the look of things :p

Well perhaps because of my medication induced stupor, I never thought of that.

If only I had another Blu to test the theory.

Anyone want to donate to my cause. :p

If anyone says that the GBA screen is fine and a larger , brighter , more detailed screen isn't necessary , then I have one word for them.

FANBOY !!!
That's right, anyone with good eyesight is a fanboy.
Am I the only person out of the 49 million who bought GBAs who can actually see the screen? Does everyone else just listen to the music and poke the buttons, or am I missing something?

umm
ya, the 2.5 -3.5 hour figure is from a UMD movie, that involves nonstop spinning and laser usage
the solid state media ( Memory stick duo card ) doubles that

I think that if the GBA was backlit it would probably be standable, but for me, I cant stand the GBA or its FLU equivalent, the SP. Haven't played a DS so I wouldn't know how it looks (they are still hard to get).

Whenever I think that my BLU screen isn't bright enough, I move into a darker room.

Whenever I think that my BLU screen isn't big enough, I move it closer to my eyes.

And I don't like the GBA (too low quality of games)

so...
Problem Solved!

Yes I actually did do a direct comparison. Yes the Z is brighter, yes I did notice the difference. But the screen on the BLU is not "crap" like you said. Everything is a trade off and if they made the screen brighter the battery life would suffer. To make it brighter you would have to increase the bias to the LCD (or the black level would suffer) plus pump more power to the backlight shortening the battery life quite a bit. So to me they actually DID "get the brightness right" within the constraints of battery life. The GP32 is primarily used for emus and the resolution matches many emulated systems with no scaling and blurring needed. So to me for this use the resolution is fine. There arent many native games that would use any extra res. More resolution is actually not desired for emus because then you will have to scale and blurr it up. In the end it gives less detail because it is fuzzy. And take that stupid yellow plastic screen cover off of the BLU and replace it with glass, that makes it a bit brighter.

I have read this board and the DRMD threads too. everyone that complained about it being too dark were non-BLU owners. Did I miss all 5 threads? not likely. If you want to accuse me of "typing stupid nonsense" then YOU do a search and prove it, or STFU.

This is where the true Z fanboy comes out. You mention that the buttons and stick on the GP32 have quality issues and you own a Zodiac?!! Those buttons on that thing are TERRIBLE. They have a cheap flimsy click to them like an old TI-30 calculator and about as reliable. I have read the numerous threads about sticking problems etc. The rubber on the shoulder buttons fall off after awhile. That stick has been known to go out of calibration frequently or break all together. How many of those things were RMA'ed because of a dodgy stick? While not a quality issue, analog is also a pretty bad solution when playing most emus too. I couldn't stand it it was like it was laggy because you had to press it near to the physical limit just to get it to move.

Well come on, you ARE a Nintendo fanboy, or are all of those Nintendo related banners in your sig a figment of my imagination?

And I did find the screens on the GBA and DS a bit too small. It does matter what content is on the system, yes. The DS hasn't impressed me there either. A huge screen with shit games is bad too. That is why the PSP will rule, big screen, good games.

There you go with your "typing stupid nonsense" again.

Never once did I say a thing about the Zodiac other than it has a nice screen.

Maybe a reading comprehension problem that developed early in childhood.

A Z fanboy...... HAHAHAHAHA .... I could care less about the Zodiac.

But it does have a nice screen.

Like I just said. Maybe a reading comprehension problem ?

My original statement
And my Tapwave Zodiacs Screen makes my GP32 Blu screen look like crap.

Well not crap but man is the Zodiacs screen nice.

Notice how I clarified my statement..... Well maybe you didn't notice since you've harped on it so much.

Also I have taken the "stupid yellow plastic" off. In fact I've had GP32's since they first came out. Non-Lit, Flu's and Blu's. I've overclocked everyone myself. Put glass screens on myself. And this was back when the GP32 was a twinkle in most peoples eye.

Oh and about your "STFU" comment.

GROW UP DAVE ... :p

I am a Nintendo FAN, that doesn't make me a fanboy. I own an Xbox and a PS2 too, and have always had other consoles aside from Nintendo ones.
And true, the PSP would rule if it had a big screen and good games, but so far all I've seen is a big screen and mediocre games. As soon as it gets some games which I would actually want to play, and can't already play on my TV (oooh, an even bigger screen! w00t!), I'll get one.

The DS games are pretty mediocre too right now. I am still not convinced that the whole second touch screen bit really adds any actual fun to games. Seems gimmicky. We'll see. I would personally like one big screen. There are some good PSP games from what I have seen, Coded arms, ridge racer look good. The golf games are nice, and that Mercury looks like a novel puzzle game. I guess it depends on what you like. I will have both anyway.
