Web About My Mame Port

YAY!!

Can't wait .. I love your Multi-Pac emu. Very impressive. :)

Yes MultiPac rulez :) Hopefully someday it will see an update.

I'm going to go to bed now and set my alarm for the 6th March.

Well I'm not, obviously, I've got to go to work, but I AM going to shut down all non - essential neural functions till I download that file.

See what I've become?

Paul

heh you guys aren't reacting as strongly as I'd expect...

like...

HOLY SH*T MAME ON GP32!!!! Well everyone was going nuts when Ryleh showed some screens of mame running

well I'm freakin ecstatic! I'm going to buy another SMC just for Mame now, probably a 128 so i can just cram it with every old arcade game I can think of. 80-100% speed with sound!! I agree with Grebn... March 6th cant come soon enough.... i've got to try NOT to think about this constantly until then but I dont think I'll succeed! F'ing Mame on a handheld!!!!!

Franxis - one question, and I asked this about Ryleh's mame as well... how will your port handle the roms? What I mean is, since you're using an old version of mame for the port, and mame roms get changed and updated all the time with newer versions... many of the new versions that are meant for the current mame (v.90) wont work on v.34... and unfortunately, ClrMame is not always able to fix them when there is that much of a gap between the version you have and the version you want to run it on...

The roms I have are all v.74, for Mameox on Xbox... thinking I may be pretty assed out if I try to get them working on this port :(

at any rate, this is truly a great time to be a GP owner....

HOLY SH*T MAME ON GP32!!!! :p

more seriously we are ALL here waiting for 6th March :)
I can't wait to see Mame on gp32_console screen :)

I have never played Mame, so can somene tell me what's so special about it? :)

MAME

Multi Arcade Machine Emulator

Plays just about every arcade game out there.

Well, not this version of mame though, since it's an older version, and due to the limitations of the GP system, obviously you wont be able to play ALL arcade games, but it seems it will run older games (80's and maybe early early 90's?).

So mame on GP32 = lots of old school arcade goodness in your pocket.

Never played MAME ?!?!

Every retro fan should know about this. Do search on ebay under the word MAME and you'll see cabinets which have an old PC in them to run the MAME emulator basically to make it look like a multi game arcade machine

You can buy the full sets of roms from ebay as well and its well worth getting.

Remember the old arcade machines from years ago ?? Many Spectrum/C64 games were arcade conversions. All those old machines you used to put 10p in (or whatever currency !) are now emulated thanks to MAME perfectly

Its amazing playing the arcade original of Space Harrier or 1942, Bombjack or Commando etc.

Its one of the best emulators out there and some of the best arcade games were from the 80's and early 90's so i cant wait.

You seriously are missing out if you dont know about MAME

Aha - another GnG fan. I can't wait either...

Yupp, I love the game. One of the few arcade games I got really good at. But unfortunately I have never got past the boss at the end of level 5. Have you ever completed it?

I completed the NES version, but you dont get a 'real' ending, instead you have to beat it a second time... friggin weak.

Yeah, same thing with the arcade version I have heard. Apparently it is also a lot harder the second time, which makes me doubt that it is even possible to beat it .. (with just one credit that is :) )
