The major milestone has been reached, you can now own a japanese psp for just £149 plus delivery.

the temptation is nigh on overwhelming at this point, the best prices on ebay just about hit £150 for the standard pack, buying from a reputable source like liksang makes the whole thing seem like so much more of a good idea.

four weeks ish till US release, w00t.

yeah i have mine preordered..too bad it's for the 2nd shipment! i hope that one isn't too far off

Why bother waiting for a UK release when it'll be more than £150 and several months late? If only I could justify the purchase...I'm so tight-fisted :(

Because the unit made for your region will be compatible with everything. Besides the Japanese units are buggy anyway. I have just heard they will be fixing the sticking button problem for new releases of the hardware. They are being improved all of the time. I could buy one now but I think it makes more sense to wait for the official release.

The square button problem was fixed ages ago. Only 0.6% (whoa so many) or 5000 units were affected. If you do/did have the problem Sony will fix it for free and pay postage both ways (in Japan). Now I call that service!

with the latest batches the button issues have disappeared.

theres no doubt about it, i will be ordering my psp from japan on the 18th of march (when i return home from uni) and then finding some pre-order ebayers from the states to ship me a fewish games on the 26th.

yeah success-hk is good, although their shipping was a little slow the last time i ordered there(was a long while back).
and yeah, if i was in europe i'd definitely pick one up now instead. and you CAN always exchange your jap unit in the stores if it gets faulty ;)

Hum, yup, they could be selling PS3's for 100€, but since I don't have such amount to spend, I couln't get one... :p

I think I'll wait for proper euro-release, so I can get it.... um, leased? (200€ purchase, you get to pay it in 10x22.5€. Slightly more expensive, but you don't need to dish out 200€ at one go...)

That's what I was going to do... this is why I always shook my head when people say "but if I buy a japanese one it comes with no warranty". If you get a faulty one you can ALWAYS make sure it gets back to Sony, one way or another. My first one had many of the common problems like a dead pixel and UMD door that wouldn't close all the way, was just gonna swap it out for a new one when the US ones arrived. Anyways the more recent Japanese units are much better, I just got my second one at the end of January and it's in great shape, no sticky button, no dead pixels. I agree that buying a japanese one makes the most sense for guys in the UK since they are the same region code.
