If he ever completes all of these..... Wow...... What better reason to get a GP32?

yes, it's cool and all. very cool.
BUT.. don't get all your hopes up. DOn't go canonizing the guy until you see some complete finished work. Support for the scene and people doing projects is great, but don't lose sight of the fact that this is all freeware, homebrew development stuff.. all these ports and emulator projects and so on.. and as such, only a dedicated few of them ever make them to 100% completion. I don't know much about Iceman or many of his type, so I am not going to say it won't happen (of course!), I am just saying be patient and supportive, and we'll see what happens.

All that aside - metal slug would be amazingly cool on GP32. Bring it on!!!

*sigh*

I really would love to get all excited by this, but it's a GIANT job trying to do what he's doing. Rip all the graphics from the original games, as well as sound and music, then code the gameplay from scratch. It would be lotsa work for SNK themselves to do it, let alone one guy working for free! So I have real doubts it'll ever get past a level or two with all sorts of limitations etc.

But I'll say this much, if Iceman reads this thread - I would pay $30 for a full blown, quality Metal Slug game on GP32. And I bet I'm not alone... If only SNK themselves would drop a few games on us... *sigh*

All three games are awesome, but perhaps porting all 3 at the same time is biting off a bit much. Especially considering that at least one NGPC emulator is in the works (supposedly near completion) and Metal Slug and KOF are available for that system. Certainly the NGPC versions are not nearly as high quality as the Neo-Geo versions (I assume that's the source he's using). But perhaps the MOTW port should take priority.

I doubt that he has any source code. He must be using sprite rips (which is better as he can tune it to run at the right speed other wise converting current source would make the game slow).

I haven't source code, i only rip GFX and do my engine.

I see at the bottom, that an other metal slug port existing ?
Cool !, who is !?

I doin't rip sound, i don't know how do this.....

like sanosuke says, i have many project, and big project.....it's not fast for release a beta......

Thanks

I wish you good luck!

But IMHO recoding all the level scripting and event code will be too long and too hard...
Perhaps a better bet would be a "metal slug -special gp32-" with original graphics and sound (ripping
won't be that hard using a own-customized mame) and levels designed by volunteers.

Anyway, keep the faith!

As I have already mentioned in another post, I was interested in the little avatar someone used, (Sorry - I forgot who you were! Bad memory!) and found out it was Metal Slug... Looked up the game in the net and 'saw it was good'! :)

I would be another person to pay for this game... However, on the subject of the game... Would it be possible for the ability to shoot diagonally? (Just something that would be good, as I believe the original game could only shoot left/right and up/down...!) ;)

Wrong. You could shoot in like 16 directions in Metal Slug, just use the up and down arrows to alter the angle at which you are firing.

yes, many direction !

I'am coding a Metal Slug Port, not Metal Slug GP32. I rip gfx, and do my engine, the level, will not be the same ....Metal SlugGP will be an original game, with Neo Geo GFX.

kof and metal slug are goddly games handed down from god himself to the people of snk

forged in a dark dank basement were men fear to tread

and they have loads of sequals!

i really can't wait
