Sd Support And Remote Controller From Creator Of G

just a question: what is the consumption of a SD card, because if it works, will the bateries last more or less time. A SMC in under 3.3 volt if i remember, and SD ?
Imagine : play more game due to the 2 GO memory and play more if there is a lower consunption....

Well, the cards go into standby when they are not used, but lets compare them anyway.

Typical SMC:
Read: 10 - 20ma
Program/Erase: 15 - 25ma
Sleep: 20 - 100ua.

Typical MMC/SD:
Read: 50ma
Program/Erase: 60ma
Sleep: 150ua

So, ten seconds of card activity (for example to load an emu + rom) would give:

SD: 138ua
SMC: 55ua

So, just powering the SD card, a 2200ma battery would be able to last for: 15,942 hours. The SMC card would last for 40,000 hours.

So yeah, it could decrease your gaming time per battery change by an hour, if you were continously reading from the SD card in that time, which your not going to, to don't worry about it :)

if this whole sd card thing gets off the ground, it would be the one biggest moment in the gp32's life so far - just imagine all the new development in mp3 and video players - it would really transform the gp32 into a true multimedia centre as well as potential ISO game support via certain emulators too :D

well if you watch a movie, which means reading from the sd-card all the thime it would decrease your battery life.... :p
but who cares xD i just want this sd card upgrade ;P

you can buy alkaline batteries so cheaply now that i wouldnt care!

nothing can be as heavy on battery use as the handhelds of the early 1990's.

lol,
1 person tries something and directly everyone is wanting to "get an sd card upgrade". Who says this is really gonna work and that there is someone willing to mod hundreds of gp's?

Ask gamepark, maybe they will do the work! and upgrade all the gp32 for free........ okay okay....

if squidges ext version takes off iam sure someone will make a few and sell them, well, count me in :)

there more than enough companies who already sell mods for gameparks who will more than likely look into doing this themselves - it could be a lucrative sideline for them.

gp32, the wine of the handheld world. Just gets better with time :D
:D Quite true... this looks to be one of the best years that the GP32's had so far! Although 2006 may be the "hangover" year, with rlyeh gone and game programmers like JBB disillusioned by the betrayal of certain sponsors for GP32 competitions (ADIC2004)...

Don't be so sure they'll all leave... I'm currently involved in a project with some devs (no, not a game nor application) which might bring some high-quality titles to your GP...

Not yet - but you'll certainly see it in a few months...
It's a 90% chance we're pulling this through - and the project is huge!

I've got it! an automatic GAME MAKER

Naaah, it's not - I can't code at all, so that won't work.
