(EDIT: Mispelled "DivX" in the topic title, which can't be fixed? Sorry, board newbie here)

JoyGP (joygp.entware.com) has announced MoviePark's successor, "GPCinema," for a July 24th release, at a cost of 10,000 KRW (about 8 dollars/euros.)  Previously registered MoviePark owners will only be charged 3,000 KRW.

GPCinema will support 15fps playback, and, according to GP32News, older 10fps videos encoded for the retired MoviePark.  DivX will still be the compressor of choice, but whether or not its latest incarnations (5.0+) will be supported is unknown.

It's nice to see the MoviePark issue remedied in a speedy manner, and the price is still negligable (previous MoviePark owners only pay the difference in price between the two players.)

£1.58! I'll have to see what I can scrape together.... :D

By the way, what was that site that compared all the different encoding types?

AS with all commercial games it will be set to your gp32 ID. BUT if someone had access to your joygp account they could buy it so you could download later :)

i don't need extra 5fps.. but it's really cool 8)
It may attract more gp32 users,
and I love the idea that the previous buyers don't have to pay the full summ for this jewel 8)

GO GP32! GO GO GO!!!!

8)

Now 15 fps??? That's good, but I would have gladly waited another few weeks if it could have been 20.

the old GUI was nice though......simple to use, and small :)

Of course being backwards compatible, you can still make movies at 10fps and play them as well is space is an issue.

More FPS means also bigger file..:( (Of couse it depends on what you want, more FPS or full movie :) )
I don't think more fps gives you bigger files.

If you make a movie using 15fps @ 128bit the file size should be very close to the same movie using 10 fps @ 128bit. The individual frames are compressed a bit more.

I am prepared to give up a bit of quality for more fps, I think.

Doing some tests now :)

Done a test

Piglets Big Movie - 9.99fps @ 192bit = 113,150KB

Piglets Big Movie - 14.985fps @ 192bit = 114,852KB

Only 1.66MB difference. Well worth the the extra space, much smother and it is hard to tell if the quality is any worse.

Cant wait to try it on the GP32.
