So Craig, Whats That Gp2x That You Have Like?

I have just been looking at the pics of gp2x again and noticed the weird position of the power adapter and usb
gpx2_4.gif

Does this make it realy uncomfortable to use? There is an awful lot of fuss on the GPH website, people demanding refunds etc etc. I'm not going to cancel my order, just stock up on spare Ni-MH batteries.

Please say it's all good craig! (not that you would suggest people ask their reseller for their money back :p )

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I couldn't find it

Well, that's a protoprotoprototype... And I'm thinking the cable fits well between fingers.

Meaning: Craig said he would post his impressions of his GP2X, one of those first final units, today.

Ah. :)

Hi,

The unit is really great, lot smaller than you might expect and thinner too. The battery pack on the back actually makes it nice to grip.

Buttons are a touch close together, but it is a handheld.

Screen is same as the blu+ one

Joypad is silent as I already said.

I like the black on black colour scheme.

Battery problem is fixed now.

What else would you like to know? I don't have a TV out cable.

Thanks,

Craig

The people bitching about it over at GPH are unaware that you can still play it as long as you have an L-shaped plug.
You still gotta wrap your hand around it on one side though, which might be uncomfortable. PSU are for wimps anyway. B)

Ooh all this activity didn't notice craigs post!
I hope you don't mean that it has a screenwrap problem! Any other annoyances? what is the OS like on your version?

Any new photos/videos coming soon on ur site?

It plays movies and MP3's, the firmware is in beta mode and is quite slow when booting, but playback is perfect.

The new joypad is a little slippy... i'll speak to them about it.

Oh man...what to do, what to do. I promised myself I would wait but I really want to order NOW :(

Craig, could you please tell me if there is any units left from the first batch? Otherwise I think I'll just try to hold out...must not press confirm...must not press confirm

Craig, just out of interest, are the units all one colour? black or white or both?
and have u ran out of free headphones and cases?
i ordered, but not long ago, but good to know i'll be getting one at least as you still have units left from the first batch.

How is the pad slippy? Electronically in-accurate or the physical knob is too slippery?

If it is the physical knob it should be concave like the GP32. I hope they don't delay it because of that though. They could change it in a future batch and since the plastic knob is removeable they could sell replacements for the first batch knobs later.

...even if I ordered from gp32z? The guy at gp32z said I was going to get one of the first wave but are you still sending him as many as you were before?

Hmm, is the knob removable? I think DaveC has the best idea. Even if it's not you could ad a textured sticker or some-such to it.

Man I can't wait, I missed the GP32 but there is no way I'm going to miss the GP2X!!

Thanx,
Stan

Heh, it there were some cases left I'd order right away but I very much doubt it. As it is now I'll order next month when I have more cash. Can hardly wait to get one!
