am I the only one putting roms on an sd card?, even if the emulators have not been released.

I don't even ave an SD card yet

(I'm severely slacking in my geek duties...)

Yeah i haven't ordered an sd card either any ideas what the [ spam ] is for 512mb or 1gb sb ebuyer seems to be doing pretty good as usual

I have a card, but havn't been transferring yet. I still need to de-solder it from some random project I was using it for

I have, however, gone through all my backups and archives trying to find any ROM and/or old DOS game data files I can get my hands on. Stuff for DooM, Heretic, Hexen, Ultima VII, Duke 3d, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Descent... It's all nice and neat in a folder waiting to be transferred.

You shouldnt pay more than $50 dollars for a 1gb card shipped. A 512 obviously $24. Also because I have owned previous SD handhelds (Tapwave Zodiac :p) I allready have about 4 of them stocked full of PSX, SNES, GB, GENESIS, MAME, HEXEN, DOOM, and QUAKE wads and ROM's. Also I have a 1gb filled with movies. I will have to re-encode them at a lower screen size for obvious reasons ;)

yeah SD stuff should be cheaper than that..i guess everything over there is higher priced!

anyway, too broke to buy an sd card now, but converting a movie here and there..

No you don't. The GP2X automatically resizes in hardware for the internal screen. When you use the TV-out you get full resolution. So you get the best of both worlds.

Well taking up your whole SD card does not really seem worth it to just watch it on the tv.

I already have my 1gb kingston pro/highspeed card for $50 and have re-encoded a few things, but I am wating to see if it supports h.264 and if it does then I will be re-encoded 24/7!

On Black Friday BestBuy (Satan's Love Shack, I know) will have 1GB SD cards, no rebates. I'm hoping some other place can equal/better that deal...

Within the US you can get either two 512MB cards or one 1GB from Newegg for < $50 shipped, or all three for < $90.

Link (Edge 512MB, Kingston 512MB, EP 1GB...or get the Kingston Elite Pro 1GB/Corsair 1GB for higher transfer speeds if you're loading full movies, etc.)
