Beta1 SDL

Could someone please tell me what SDL is ? (sorry for being thick but I've never heard of it).

Are you also saying that Ultima 7 works ?

SDL is a library with similar features to DirectX, but it's cross platform and open source. It should make porting existing SDL based games much easier, but also new gp32 games can be cross compiled to run on windows, linux, mac, or any other OS SDL is available for.

Cheers woogal (I'm a bit stupid on the programming front)

I'd better keep my questions at a level that I'll understand the answers .....

What games can we play ? :D

i think it would b cool if games ported from the gp to the pc could b played multiplayer with the gp. Using the usb probly. Maybe if could be done with geepee but i think its too slow <_<

Wow, there are some pretty amazing games on that site. Obviously many of them couldn't be ported without a LOT of work (controls, screen size, etc), but still WOW.

I think as the SDL library improves, we'll be seeing a lot of really good games ported to the GP32. Good luck to anybody who wants to work on one.

Ultima 7 would be a great port!!!

Why hasn't someone suggested that before... :)
yeah they did :) But that was before we had SDL, and before anyone realised there was an SDL port. And a version of which that already runs on an ARM based PDA with a 320x240 TFT (those specs sound a bit familiar!)

Dozer: Black, the author of GPengine has implemented a multiplayer system over the wireless link. could be fun!

No, I not with out tweaking the code and recompiling. But if you are a bit code savvy, it wouldn't be that difficult. But then, you would port it to the GP first wouldn't you? :)
