Hi all,

I just like to introduce myself my name is Clayton, Ive been on this board for a little while. I have a Gp32 and a GP2x on order. (oct 4th still waiting for an email, not that it matter the GP32 keeps me busy )
Im a Electronics Engineer and interested in doing somedev stuff. I have experience with low level and high level coding of various microcontrollers but havent done a whole heap of coding at a high level on a PC. Thus I was thinking the best way I could contribute to the scene would be doing hardware level dev stuff rather than game coding. Even though Im getting a GP2x in the mail soon, Id prefer to keep that intact. Does anyone know how hard or easy it is to get a Dev board without a case from GPH?

Whilst Im here I would like to thank all the software devs for making the GP32 so much fun.

Cheers

Fez

PS. If the dev boards are hard to get, i bags buying the first one that someone turns into a brick hehe

Cheers mate. I might start out by making a circuit diagram of the whole board and its connections. I can see that will take a bit of time though.

Make shure to look for USB host testpoints... I hope that they did infact have some pads and wiring connected to the host pins on the MMSP. Too bad its BGA, if it wern't then at least you could manually solder in a host usb phy.

Chances are that the NetChip they are using already is sitting on the address bus (would be the most common sense way, rather than using a parallel interface), so we could simply replace that chip with one that does slave + host and be done. Ok, it'll prob look messy, as it's likely that it will not be the same footprint, but then again, soldering wires to the processor is not exactly clean looking either. Unfortunately, I remember looking for work, and in the end gave up and just decided on a processor with built in usb host.
