Hey, I'm in germany, too and I didn't get it :p It either that or my strange como of protection software (AVG anti-virus, and Norton Firewall)

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I also have WinXP

I've never had a computer virus on any system I've had, ever, and I've also never run a firewall or anti-virus software. Maybe I'm just lucky. I reckon by being cautious about everything you do online and running windows update regularly you don't need a virus checker really. :p

If you use XP Pro, be sure to set up a Power User account and use it instead of your Admin account for most daily tasks. I use a Power User account with a password-protected Admin account and only have my NAT Firewall of my router to protect me, along with McAfee Virus Shield Academic liscense. I don't have the virus on either of my XP computers.

i've installed it now the 'wash' facility for ram optimising is gr8 and its the first time after running i do feel like i've just reset my pc so that seems worh it enough

I've know people who never ran virus killers or had firewalls and said that they never had a virus.Turn out that they never KNEW that they had viruses.I've fixed systems for them, installed virus killers and then they said-since you installed the virus killer/firewall i've had viruses and had my computer attacked. They were just ignorant of the fact they were being attacked and virused quit often, they just never saw the effects. Not that I'm saying you are infected taras,it's just that it pays to be protected.

I HATE WIN2K!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have win2k installed with no service packs so i got rid of the virus and then patched but the patch wont run cause i dont have a service pack installed

so i install service pack 4 and then patcxh it the system runs ok but then when i reboot it all it does is just reboot at b4 the windows login screen <_<

so i uninstalled service pack 4 cause my pc is unuseable but the patch doesnt work with no service pack so now i cant copy any text or open up some links and open up links in a new window at all

so i still ahve an unuseable pc and i can get the virus AGAIN!!!!!!

I HATE U MICROSCUM

Gah, if you ask me its a huge scam!!! Ill bet microsoft puts leaks in their operating system on purpose, and I dont trust the software companies that develope virus scanning software either. Mcafee probably produces viruses in order for their software to sell better. I dont know who to trust anymore... :(

Im going to go hide now

Here's my story,
I got this virus last Monday.
It rebooted my computer like everyone else's.
SO I system restored it...bad idea.
I just backed up the probelm *virus*.
So I tried system recovery *none destructive mode*...and it never was able to reboot again.
SOOO finally, to no avail, I system recovered again. This time reformat the HD.
I lost 3 1/2 years of material and documents and web favorites, games..movies...whatever,EVERYTHING. I NEVER backed any of it up.
EXCEPT...

MY GP32 stuff. I backed this up 2 days before *unknowningly of my impending doom*
Thank you GP32 GODS!!
PISS on you MIcrosoft WINXP losers...
sorry had to blow off some steam.

OH yeah I had a virus protection and firewall....

Why the heck did you do that?
I didn't get the virus - but I had to remove it from 5 or 6 computers... and this has been one of the easiest viruses I ever had.
I just had to start a program which you could get for free from symantec and install the Microsoft patch so the virus won't come again...

That's it... why did you have to delete the whole harddisk??

Each PC is different look at mine i needed a SP so the pc worked with the patch and sp4 didnt work and the patch wont work on a win2k pc without a service pack

Lucky i got sp2 and it's all woring now but sp4 will never work on my pc it seams :\

I had to delete my hard disk because I had system restore enabled.
After reading an article from Symantec. They informed the public that if you system restored your PC the virus would be backed up into your system restore partition. I system restored my PC without knowing the consequences. If I downloaded MSblast.exe I would still have the virus and my problem would still ocurr because it is now backed up into the partition I can't access or touch.
...It sucks... It really does.

If I only downloaded MSblast before I system restored .....I would have been fine.

Ah well, but you can always backup all the important files if you put the harddisk into another computer before reformatting...

I know...I know...
Thankfuly though every program I had was a free hacked program with the exception of a few small paid proggies.
BUT like I said before thank god I backed up my GP32...thats whats most important anyway. I can always download my porn stuff again..hehehe

Ah, so you didn't have any really important data on your harddisk?
Then it's okay you just reformatted.

I just feared you did something terrible to your programs ;)

Well, I had important business documents, banking files Mortgage documents , and HoneyMoon pictures (my wife will kill me) and just things that I can't get back...ever. This is why I am upset about it. BUT my PC works now ...and I guess thats all that matters...
Next time...Formatting my HD..is LAST RESORT....without a doubt.
And I think backing up is a great idea too..
