According to gp32emu, Craig is about to release Doom v9 and doesn't know if he will include cheats.

C'mon guys vote no. I'm pretty sure cragix got something beter to do than building cheats in doom.

Try jumping into one of the higher levels with just a pistol. Then you will see why cheats are nice...

I don't use cheats until i beat the game. I guess cheats would only be a plus. We wouldn't have to use them if we didn't want to.

It doesnt matter. Normally, once you die and respawn all your weapons are gone anyway. Your not supposed to be able to start out on the first map with a BFG.

Every single level in doom and doom2 is designed to be played from scratch.

I have played thought them myself, i prefer the challenge of starting each one with just the pistol.

I might add cheats but i'll be sure to hide them away and not tell anyone how to access them for ages ;) plus i'll be selective about the cheats i add, i think they ruin games.

I have already beat Doom shareware (took me long enough ;) ), but I would like to have some fun with it now, so cheats would be cool.

When I get a chance to play with my GP32, it tends to be for a few minutes at a time.

I like to unwind by loading a tough Doom level, set at nightmare with all the weapons and blast away until I'm killed. A great stress reliever.

Long before 9-11, I was playing on a laptop on an airliner. Even then, the sound of automatic weapon fire seemed to disturb the other passengers...

Personally I think cheats are part of the game. I mean, the original PC version has them. The port would be incomplete and far from perfect if it didn't have them.

As for them making it unfair, it makes the game no less unfair than using load/save. Try playing through an episode, without saving, on Ultra Violence. It's possible but it's not easy!

Craig, if you're going to add only some cheats, how about all weapons, all ammo and health.

That's about I ever use anyway.

I like cheats because I'm just not very good at FPS games. IDDQD, IDKFA, and when I really get stuck, IDSPISPOPD.

Weapon and level skip cheats until the Save option works (if Save still doesn't work). After that you shouldn't need it. If you're rubbish at FPSes, then play it on and easier skill setting.

You shouldn't have cheats in ANY game, in my opinion. And those strategy guides??? Buying a game BUNDLED WITH it's strategy guide!!! Buy a game so that it lasts less than a weekend? Duhhhh. <rant detected...calming down>

There are more important things than cheats to worry about. The game gets stuck once you beat it, and save doesnt 100% fully work, also craig is putting mp3/ogg support into it. You act like codes should be the number 1 priority in this game. The game in meant to be challenging, not to use "IDDQD, and IDKFA" if you die a few times.
