just wondering why there's not much applications being released for the gp2x.

It's great that games are being relased everyday. but I wish there's things like scientific calculator or PIM programs comming out for it.

Because the gp2x is a handheld games console, so obviously a games console is suited for games. Without things like keyboards/touchscreen input would be tedious. If you want apps buy a pda

Hmmm, i'd still guess stuff like this may come out later though, after a keyboard is hacked together, or mabye some other time... the things are relatively new. But who knows, i'm not involved with much... yet... dot dot dot...

While those things are possible and even practical give it time. The thing has only been out a short time. You can't expect that everything will be available a few weeks after it was released.

On that note, it should be said that it hasn't even been "released" yet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it will be officially released until January.

There are serial ports in the GP2x's ext socket and perhaps even MMSP2's usb! So connecting devices such keyboards and mouse/trackball might be possible. Thought the GP2x is mostly a portable game handheld I could imagine using it for some text works (writing down diary or ideas) and joystick/trackball could be nice for some games played on the TV.
