My cap arrived in the post last week. I was amazed at how detailed the instructional sheet was and how professional the cap is, I had trouble believing that it wasn't moulded.

Noticed immediate improvements with SquidgeSNES and BOR after fitting the cap. Very highly recommended. One of my workmates is interested in the GP2X and I think this mod might push him over the edge into geting one.

Thanks Dave!

Just got my DaveC replacement cap and it works very well.
Up to now, I have been disappointed with the GP2X, mostly due to the joystick.

I was a bit wimpy about plucking off the original cap,
but the actual joystick shaft is metal so there is little
worry of damaging it by plucking off the plastic top.

Thanks DaveC !

Evrybody else, GO FOR IT !!!

I still have to get of my ass and pay Dave so I can get one. I'm still using the metal pin to play because my stock cap fell off. I have a nice callus on my thumb now :)

Hey Dave you seem to be the stick expert.

My stick is occasionaly not responding to left, I remember seeing threads about this but what seems to be the problem?
I do happen to be using the standard cap, but it just does not regesiter left sometimes.

The cap may be hitting up against the side of the case ... 'twas so on my first edition GP2X ... try filing down the left side of the cap's shaft a bit (maybe).

Though I'm no expert :(

Yes like Telco said the shaft socket is probably hitting the case as the motherboard is not perfectly centered. My cap replacements have a smaller diameter shaft socket but are much stronger material so you can get away with the smaller diameter and still be stronger. You can take the standard cap off and file a slight flat spot on the shaft socket. Then align the flat spot left. Do not cut down the socket completely or the cap will become loose and fall off.

Hey !
Just to say that I received my DaveC cap today.
I haven't played everything with it but my windjammer and supersidekicks game session were really improved in term of gameplay (I played with the metal stick for 2 weeks now  )

It takes me a little time to fit it in the right way, but with your explanations on the paper I think it's almost perfect now !

Thanks for this cap DaveC.

I just want to give the man DaveC a free plug for his excellent replacement stick cap.

Along with a case and TV-out cable, this should be one of the must-buy accessories, it's one of the best $10 (or $11) you'll spend towards GP2X.

Thanks DaveC!

I want one for mine new gp2x! Please Dave answer to my pm

I answered.

I don't visit here as much anymore because of the virus. At work they blocked the site too because of the bloody virus. Because of this my time will be more limited, so you will need a bit of patience.

Lets see will Hando set a new record for how long he will leave the site infected ;)

Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave, I recieved the joystick 2 days ago and I have to say that it is so much better than the stock stick. I like the nifty instructions too...it even outbeat the retrocon mod. I was very surprised with the amount of work put into these sticks. It really works like a charm...it almost works like a D-pad at times :)
