I want to try the GP2PSX but only have OSX/Linux on my computers and was wondering if anyone knew of any programs for either os's that will rip games to a format that the GP2PSX can use. Anyone know of any, or any guides to use the open source rippers? There is one mentioned in the readme that is open source and runs on Linux, but I can't find any instructions on how to rip them.

Thanx,
Stan

Oh man! I just spent the better part of 4 hours trying to find the answer to this(what seems to be ill fated) question. I still can't come up with the answer. Although on a sidenote I did try GTA2 with GP2PSX and it ran better than I thought it would, but still unplayable. But if anyone knows that answer to this question please oblige us.

I don't know if it's just as simple as cat'ing the cdrom device to a file, or if there's more work involved, but it might be worth a shot if you don't need cd audio tracks.

Solution:

Get a windows emulator.

:)
Hmm, I guess that would be an easy way out. It's way too late to play with WINE tonight, I'll try it tomorrow.

Thanx,
Stan

Disk Utility on OS X can also create ISOs easier than using the terminal. And WINE won't help you you if you want to emulate windows (Wine Is Not an Emulator) you will need to use VirtualPC if you want to use PocketISO

If anyone knows what sort of compression the iso needs? Do I need to compress the files before creating the ISO or after? Cheers all!

Disk Utility does not always create correct ISO files, that's why using dd from the command line is safer.
