Nintendo
Nintendo Switch
They think Nintendo products are just novelty toys for kids (which couldn't be further from the truth) and are probably too busy playing their PC and XBOX 360 games! SONY and Nintendo FTW!!!!!1111111111111111111111111

That makes no sense. No sense at all.Huxley posted on Apr 2 2006 at 03:27 PM said:And yes, I'd class the DS as a novelty also. Just because it's sold in numbers, doesn't mean it appeals to the mass market in the same way the Playstation has/does. Ask the average non-gamer about handheld consoles and they're more likely to tell you about the PSP.

Look up the word "mass". Then look up the word "market". Nintendo are selling more DS' worldwide than Sony are selling PSPs. They are trouncing them in fact. I think it is safe to say that they are appealing to the mass market.
And I am sure that the revolution controller will be used in some mindnumbingly stupid ways too. But imagine what it will be like in well-designed games!

Take the DS. In many games the touchscreen is just a gimmick that feels forced into the controls - in Rayman for example. But how about Trauma Center? One of the best DS games I have seen and definitely only possible because of the touchscreen. Phoenix Wright does not use the touchscreen in an unnatural way either and it even allows you to shout "objection!" (a great thing to do at 3AM) - all those additional features feel very well implemented and natural.
That's kinda what I am expecting for the revo controller. Some games that are absolutely stunning and would have been unthinkable with the controller - and some utter stinkers that use the new controller just because they can. I for one am curious about the good ones though - and there WILL be good ones
You're right and wrong here. Your definition of mass market is teen to 30s males, and with that definition, it makes the perfect sense. Except, if that's the case, we'll see E3 coverage at 6 o'clock news and CNN having special coverage on E3 every night. Even G4TV is nowadays showing some other crap shows, after airing only game related shows for a while. The "demography" that you're talking about is, unfortunately, not mass market.Huxley posted on Apr 2 2006 at 08:27 AM said:Especially considering that Nintendo DO release novelty consoles; the Virtualboy and GBA Micro being prime examples. Or those stupid little Pokemon LCD things. Or that god awful Pokemon N64...pointless. And yes, I'd class the DS as a novelty also. All that proved is how much love affair gaming press have with PSP. They voted PSP system of E3 2004 when Sony didn't even show a single game running on it. Whenever a worthy game or games that supports WiFi comes out of DS, they question it could be the last of its kind and Ninty will just drop dead, while they have no doubt PSP will get a hundred killer titles in the future.Huxley posted on Apr 2 2006 at 08:27 AM said:Ask the average non-gamer about handheld consoles and they're more likely to tell you about the PSP.
