For those of you that've taken apart your GP==RAM?

update.

i'm having a little trouble getting the webpage to show up on the site i'm useing. most of the files are there you just can't get to them. i'll need to track down my friend so he can help me.

I have about 4 chips i'm going to try once i order a soket for them. 2 32 meg ones a 16 and an 8 just for fun.

all chips perform difrently. some run at faster speeds others run at diffrent clocks. even ones of the same model. some run a bit faster then spec and some run slower. just depends on conditions and useage. you even lose bits of ram over time. you notice this with older computers. ram slowly disapers.

Oh yes! Gp32 with 64mb would change some things around emus and stuff... :)

Ok sorry for no update lately. it was my birthday yesterday so been busy. i have the main lay out of the site. check it sometime late tomarrow it will be up. anyone who understand elecronics come join the group. well get the gp running much better then it is right now. i would like to get an Audio /video out put so it can be palyed on a tv. i kinda have an idea but me actualy figureing it out with out blowing up a million gps is beyond me. my firend is getting me more webspace then expected. i might put up a forum and stuff. i want to start a group of hardware "hackers". drop me a line if you would be intrested. atmy email. check some where in this thread. i won't waste my time unless a few people would be intrested.

*GREAT* (sorry for shouting *g*)
While for the GP32 itself it doesn't matter it would be *great* for all the emulators to have more RAM...

While I used to solder some stuff in school that was some time ago. Anyway, I would risk to rip my GP32 open and solder on the board. But it would be nice to know if it will work again afterwards

Also I do know something about memory, CPUs, etc. But this knowledge is about 10 years old... so I need some time to "acclime" to new hardware *g*

(sorry for my englisch, I'm no native speaker)

yes more RAM would be great for emus and Linux i think, perhaps it is possible to get this zaurus Window Manager (dont know the name, is also for X-Box linux available) working, than it would be a real PDA :) *dreaming*
hmm lets see

PS: here you can see a screenshot of the x-box version:
http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/pic/main.jpg
and some of the of it, running on sharps zaurus:

and here running a game called wyvern

i think its real great, and opensource....

EDIT: Ok... it isnt only a window Manager or desktop manager its kind of a whole system... and only runs only on Strong Arm processors (also on x86 and ppc), but the gp32 hasnt a strong arm cpu right ?

ok here is a link to their page

I was just browsing the samsung datasheet for the arm processor then I found this at page 219 (chapter 11):

The S3C2400X memory controller provides the necessary memory control signals for external memory access.
S3C2400X has the following features;
— Little/Big endian (selectable by a S/W)
— Address space: 32Mbytes per each bank (total 256MB: 8 banks)
— Programmable access size (8/16/32-bit) for all banks
— Total 8 memory banks
6 memory banks for ROM, SRAM etc.
2 memory banks for ROM, SRAM, EDO/SDRAM etc .
— 7 fixed memory bank start address and programmble bank size
— 1 flexible memory bank start address and programmable bank size
— Programmable access cycles for all memory banks
— External wait to extend the bus cycles
— Supports self-refresh mode in DRAM/SDRAM for power-down
— Supports asymmetrically or symmetrically addressable DRAM

There are a lot more information there...

Ok site is up check it out. hope to have a guest book soon so people can leave coments and questions.

I'm going to be look at the mouser site later this week to order a socket and a few chips.

Great work Nirvanaj. I wish i wasnt completely useless at this sort of thing. Anyway ive allready stuck your website on my favourites.

Good luck ;)

I really hope you get the tv-out to work, would make my day most definately.
