For some time, I've been greatly concidering recasing the GP2X and creating a "home console". By that, I mean enherit Radek's external joypad, and that person's speaker rig. The only problem I can see is getting it to plug into a TV. Since TV-out isn't supported by everything (it'd still make a good movie player. Also, I don't want to take apart my GP2X. :(

I'm not an expert at electronics, however I know my fair share (I take it as a subject at school). None the less, I think it'd be fun to work on.

Feel free to shout at me for such a crazy idea (I thought of it at ~3AM a few weeks ago). Also feel free to send me a GP2X to rip apart(!). :p

With all do respect, you say you arent that great with electronics, but you want someone to send you their gp2x to take apart as you dont want to dissect your own. Call me crazy, but I doubt that will ever happen.

good luck trying though ;)

I guess the :p didn't make it clear that I was joking.
Well, I'll just get a cheap-o awful condition one cheap. That, or bite and take apart my own (MK1 <333).

I guess it would interest people more if I added some goodies. So far my ideas are:
- Built in Breakout box (BIBOB)
- wLAN built in (and installed on system)
- Sound from console (I'm lazy)
- External main joy pad
- Power light thing

feel free to throw more ideas at me.

edit:
- built in SD Card reader + extension cable
- battery pack (that'll look odd)
- SNES controllers spray-painted and polished to look different and authentic
- if I can find a cheap-o GP32, built in GP32 too (backwards compatability! :) )

some of the more complex things will appear after I've got a basic thingy done. I may even try a GP32 first. we'll see.
