Hu6280 Now Has Cdrom Support!

Excellent progress on this emulator so far, vobbo!

I've been rebuilding my TG-16/PCE library since I got my GP2X a few weeks ago, and today I took my first crack at using the CD emulation feature. I ripped my Garou Densetsu II - Aratanaru Tatakai (Fatal Fury 2) PCE disc to .iso/.mp3 format, copied the .isos to my /roms/pcengine/iso directory on the GP2X, and tried to fire it up.

It's obviously reading the iso track 2 successfully, but when it tries to fire up all I'm getting is a cute cartoon image of the characters and some Japanese text that I'm guessing is Mai Shiranui telling me I can't run this game for some reason.

My first guess is that I'm either missing a system ROM of some kind, or that HU6280 doesn't yet support the Arcade Card Pro/Duo configuration - any ideas?

You are quite right if I remember right Fatal Fury was an Arcade Pro OS game - it wont run !

There is sivere flickering and some graphical corruption in Dragon Ball Z - Idainaru Son Gokou Densetsu (ISO)

Any news on this? Haven't heard anything in awhile. Is this the final version or will the sound be improved and the "meat bug" fixed? Maybe the Squidge hack applied ? Just wondering. Maybe the DS and PSP version is being done now?

LOL, its only been about a week since a release, give the man a brake lol. Ya, its different going from daily fixes to long stretches lol.

Yeah it is a bit odd that there are no posts from Vobbo either. I can understand no releases but you would think you would hear something. I wonder if this has to do with the PSP or DS versions that he was speaking of working on. The mystery..

Well, his profile says he was active yesterday, so at the very least he's still keeping an eye on gp32x.de whilst working on PSP/DS version... which means there's no way he can have avoided noticing the effect Squidge's marvelous hack has had on other emulators.

Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't implement it yet (or does, but as an ini option) though because of the slight graphical corruption it seems to (currently) result in, Vobbo being a perfectionist and all.

Yeah that's weird about the small graphics corruption. I'm not sure really though if Vobbo needs to implement this in his emu. Most everything runs perfect (speed wise) with no overclocking. Hmmm I guess if he did implement it you could even under clock. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

He has been busy with something known as 'The Real World'. Anyway. He has not vanished and will soon return. And release another HU6280 :p I informed him of the MMU hack a while ago and he says he is going to take a look.

Is that a homebrew project? RPG or something?
lol. I assume when he does let go of another release, it will be followed with 5 more within the same hour. Gotta make up for lost time!

Great glad to hear this is progressing and the audio is being fixed. That was my big concern. No rush, I can wait for a good release, and yes I will be donating again when the audio is fixed (stereo, clear etc) :)

Do you think that Squidge hack would be useful?

Thanks for the good work.

I`ll test the squidgehack(tm) tonight!

Yeah it seems to be finicky though. It works perfect in GnGeo but gives graphical glitches in DrMD in the form of random black lines on the edges of the screen. Good luck with it for Hu6280, hope it works out.

Ideal, if it does result in speed increases at the expense of some corrupt graphics or lines along the side of the screen or whatever might be to include it as a startup option for an ini file - after all, if speed is near perfect without the hack at 200MHz, the only real need for it would be to reduce the CPU speed to play in the first place to gain battery life.

Although I suppose it could help out quite substantially in terms of providing you with the necessary CPU cycles to deal with Supergrafx and (hopefully) mp3s with the cd-based cames :)

Keep up the fantastic work!

I hate to say this, but the donations should really come BEFORE everything is fixed (not pointing at you DaveC, I know you already donated...but for others). A donation is not that you are purchasing something, and will only give money when it is completely right with you. The donation is supposed to be meant to support the work that continues :)

I donated (not too much unfortunately) a few versions ago. I plan to donate more shortly because I admire Vobbo's efforts. So donate now folks!
