Sidplay2x is a music player for Commodore 64 songs which is based on sidplay2 and reSID for high quality emulation. Please have a look at the accompanying README file for more info.

Download Sidplay2x here.

I'll be releasing the source at some stage, but I need to tidy it up and do a proper job of the autoconf stuff first.

Best regards,

im looking forword to listening to this :) now come on dabs on deliver my kingmax 2GB card already!!!

Awesome, thanks! Sidplay was my most-used app on the GP32. I tried Oldplay the other day, which is superb, but a SID-dedicated player is great to have too.

Really great !!!
It's sound well and the design is excellent.

Maybe the player eat too machine-time... Some tunes like "dulcedo cogitationnis" with a lot of sample don't run well at 250Mhz... I hope for a new speed version with an automatic playlist ? :)
many thanx

Something that would really nice, would be, if I could just plop the whole HWSC.zip on my SD, and play sid's from there...

I quess that would require the player to "support songs in zip files."

I think Oldplay does this. From its readme:

Oldplay also uses libzip to look inside zipfiles (which is almost
a requirement when playing from HVSC).

Sidplay2x does support this - zip files should behave just like directories (the zip file name must end with ".zip" though ;-)

Cheers,
Matt.

Non-PSID sample tunes eat too many cycles at the moment. Some of them play okay at 250MHz (e.g. Turbo Outrun), but others still have problems. The "PSID" versions seem to play fine though.

There is some playlist code in there (from another sidplay2/reSID port I did for the PocketPC), but I haven't tested it yet. It's on my list of things to do :)

Cheers,
Matt.
