Okay, on Virtual Dub when I was done I went to >File, then save as AVI, and I clicked save, then it said VideosoureceAVI error: the source image format is not acceptable (error code -2)

What does that mean? Thanks for all the help I've gotten lately.

It depends how the original was packaged. Could be that the audio is in variable bitrate, in ogg or some other format. In my experience with VirtualDub (not encoding for the GP32 but it's all the same problem), you're best off with VirtualDubMod (just do a Google search for and and you'll find it) which handles slightly strange formats a little better than the standard VD (ooer).

my download was a nornal avi file, downloaded from Kazaa, I followed the MoviePark virtualdub instructions exactly, and I didn't have problems until the encoding was about to begin. ANy more help please? :(

just want to ask... can you open and play this file normally in Media Player?

just checking in case its a codec problem :)

Bonks

yes, it works in a media player. are you still on, maybe you could help me?

yeah im still on, you got MSN? add me if you do, easier to talk ill see what i can do

bonksgb@hotmail.com

Tho ill be honest and say ive never seen this problem, only problems i usually get when saving is if the codecs are not installed, but if that was true you wouldnt be able to use media player

theres an application... em... Gspot its called, this simply tells you the codec its trying to load. I know VirtualDub (the new versions) dont allow converting of any of Microsofts formats anymore.

you can get Gspot here: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Bonks

Make sure that when you are resizing that the new resolution values are a multiple of... err, four, I think it is. This means you can not use a resolution with an odd value eg 320 x 177.

errr, about codecs, I'm having some problems with some AVIs
For some reason, I get an image but no sound, could it be that I'm missing a codec? dyou know any good site for getting them (even if that's not the problem, I'd rather have them all)?

You could start with the NIMO pack
nimo.titanesk.com/nimo/

its got most common used codecs (vid and sound)

also use the Gspot utility i posted above to see exactly what codecs an avi uses

Great stuff, my file works fine now ;)
Gspot ir really nice too, tells me stuff I always want but can never find :)
