well i got moviepark so should i flash now? or not risk it? Just i really wanna put mr spivs thing on to see if it is any good

Go for it.... then let me know if it worked or not, cause i wanna try it too :D :p

There is absolutelly no need to flash/upgrade console firmware. Its very risky process, and think twice before you start upgrading. and when you will decide to flash your firmware, put fresh batteries into your gp, and pray :). And once again there ABSOLUTELLY NO NEED to flash your firmware.

i'll wait until tomorrow so i can put fresh batteries in

is there anyway to use the other OS's with out flashing?

When you say OS, what exactly do you mean? like WindUPs/GPFile Manager?

cause you dont need to flash to use them, there just programs that run in freeloader

For me, the only reason I flashed/used Mr. Spiv's firmware was because I wanted to start directly into Wind-Ups. You can run Wind-Ups using the freelauncher to see if you like it, its a matter of opinion. Even if you do like it but only use it occasionally, you can still start it that way, but with the multi-firmware it books directly into Wind-Ups if you choose. For me, that's the quickest way to use my GP32 and I like it, but again, as posted by Hando, it is a risk to upgrade your firmware and you do not NEED to.

Like windups? If so just dump windups into the correct dir and run it through free launcher, but to be honest I don't think there is any need as the standard OS does the job!

:)

I flashed my gp32 to put Pacrom on, but I didn't like it very much, so I switched back to the normal firmware. I'd consider myself lucky that nothing went wrong ;)

I apoligise in advance for my stupidity, but what does flashing mean? Ive seen the term used before, and i *think* it means you put the program on some sort of internal memory on the gp32 or something....... urm sorry im such a dunce ;)

When you turn on the GP32 without any SMC plugged in, you get a nice menu screen.
That's the OS, which is being kept in a flash rom.
Flash rom means, that you can update it using software without having to take apart your GP32.

That's nice.
But on the other hand: If flashing fails, the system won't start anymore (and you can't do no reflash, because you
can't start the flash program as well).
That's the risky business.

I flashed mine with Mr. Spiv's firmware, but there is no guarantee this will work for you!

aha, gotcha. I think i might avoid that, seeing as ive heard some pretty good reccomendations for the basic OS.

Plus im a big fat wuss :p
